Tipping Mousekeeping

The towel "animals" are in fact, just as you thought, a cute way to fold the wash cloth or whatever. No you are not suppose to take them with you, though I have read (on the Dis, no less  ) of people bringing them home with them....

I don't believe TAs are "gifts" that you take home since they are made out of Disney towels. I wouldn't take a TA home any more than I'd pack up any other Disney towel or property to take with me. JMO.

That said, I do think TAs are gifts of a sort -- it's a bit of magic that SOME mousekeepers know how to do and they do it when they have time and resources to create them. I would never leave a note asking for one; if I got one, it would be a nice surprise. Again, JMO.

I am sorry for the confusion I seem to have created here. I thought the meaning of "gift" would be understood by putting it in quotes. Sometimes meanings are confused on these bds. Kudos Eeyore1954, I believe you have said it very well. :)

BTW, we tip based on the service of the room. We also give an additional tip for any special requests we have. This confusion prompted me to reread my original post & I realized that we usually tip $4-$5/day, so I'll try to edit my orginial post for that. Always, we Never tip in Disney dollars. Hope this clears it up. :)

I have to admit that I did take a towel animal once. I know. I know. That is worse then reusing mugs in my book! Anyway, it was our first trip onsite and staying at the CBR. We came to the room to find these adorable bunnies in the window and all over the room. They were so cute!!!:Pinkbounc Anyway I really thought they were ours so I let the kids each take one. So we took two. I didn't know that was a major no no until I read it later on a board. Oops!! LOL! I never took another after that. When we went back on our other trips we got big towel animals and all I could think about was what would have happened if one of those would have been in our first room instead of some tiny bunnies. I could see myself marching out of the room with a giant elephant or something! So now my bunnies are perched on shelves in the kids rooms. I do wish it were an option to buy them as my youngest daughter found it hard to part with a duck. Oh well!;)

No no it is me, I'm admittedly dense :D But sometimes (and not necessarily on this thread) the emotion over towel animals and whether we get them or don't get them or deserve them or desire them or whatever- reaches such a fever pitch I have to knock myself on the head and say-- wait a minute-- isn't all this about a ducky made out of a washcloth?
;)

Anyway, I don't see the harm in asking housekeeping, but that's just me.
