We will be staying 7 days at WLV and 7 days at BWV, since mousekeeping isn't everyday what are the tipping guidelines you use?

Thanks

You'll find that people are all over the board on tipping Mousekeeping. Some people don't tip at all, figuring we pay for them with our dues. Others tip lightly because they might only have had a Trash & Towel day during their visit.

We figure that they cleaned the room before we got there and after we leave, so we usually give them $15-$20, depending on the length of our stay and any requests we might have made.

Of course, if we ever ran into poor service, we would adjust the tip accordingly.

When you check in to a DVC resort you receive an info sheet on a variety of subjects, including tipping guidelines. Housekeeping is not listed as a tipped position....:smooth:

I usually leave $5 on trash & towel day and $10 for a full cleaning day and on checkout day. We tend to be very neat - I'd leave more if we were really messy.

No tipping Mousekeeping? Think we need to encourage others to leave tips for Mousekeeping. Weather disney has that listed or not as a tipping postion I'm sure that tipping is just one small way we help to make their jobs more enjoyable. With all the money I spend on vacation the tip isn't one I worry about doing to much of. For one thing is for sure, if the emplyees are happy, they will help me to have a wonderful vacation. And remember a tip is just another way of saying Thank You, witch we all need to do more of, no matter where we are.

My 2 cents worth.

I am all for tipping Mousekeeping but I don't think I will tip the same for trash and towel service once during a visit as for daily service in a hotel room.

I am a new owner and haven't been yet so I don't know what I will do when the time comes.

If the standard tip is $1 per person per night, I also would not leave just a dollar if I am alone for a week.

I usually tip daily in a hotel but leave more on the last day because if I have been shopping a lot I leave a lot of boxes and bags for them to dispose of.

If the room was not in pristine shape when I checked in that would certainly affect any tips I might be leaving.

I noticed that housekeeping was not listed as a tipped position, but after our weekend stay, we left $5. I just want to say Thank You to whomever was going to clean up after us.

Kind of funny. I recently stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, and housekeeping was listed as a "tipped" position. Must be a costal thing...

I know folks are all over the board on the tipping issue. Personally, I tip and I take into consideration the size of the unit and what cleaning the unit involves, a 1-bedroom is like cleaning an apartment not just a hotel room. I used to tip at the end of the stay but I've taken to tipping on T&T day as well.

I heard a general travel expert discussing tipping hotel maid service. He was remarking how some people don't tip since technically they are paid as non-tipped positions. However, he said he felt tips should be given since the salaries are still low and the work hard and personal.

When away on business, I leave a buck or two per night if I am by myself. At DVC we usually get a 2 BR for a week, so I leave 10 bucks, more if they have dome something special.

We don't (and never have) tipped Mousekeeping. We do leave a note with any leftover non-perishables to help themselves.

We tip housekeeping. The amount varies. I will adjust it if I leave a tip and the room isn't cleaned very well. Sometimes it is hard to tell if you will have the same housekeeper your entire stay.

I tried to tip the CM at VB and she absolutely refused and stated it was her pleasure to clean our room. She was an absolute doll.

For some reason, whenever we have stayed on pts, the tip isn't accepted as frequently. Maybe they receive a bigger percentage of the DVC cleaning fee.

We've tipped, but only on our last day. For those of you that tip mid-trip at DVC or a regular hotel, where do you leave the money so they know it's for them? When I'm at home, I tend to empty my pants (bills and coins included) onto the nearest dresser. I do the same in hotels and know that I have had money laying out on a dresser before that was never touched. I've just always tipped on the last day, but kind of like the idea of a mid-trip tip.

We usually tip $5 on trash n towel day with a note making sure that Mousekeeping knows it belongs to them. We have never stayed long enough for a full cleaning. I would think somewhere in the range of $10 would be sufficient for that.

I tip $5 on Trash and towel day and $20 for a full cleaning(we usually stay in a 2 bdrm with 6 people) I will say that we always get left lots of extra towels ,coffee packs, detergent, soaps, etc.

We always tip, both on trash & towel day and at end of stay. Usually between $10-20 each time, depending on how messy we've been.
I look at it this way - we're spending a fortune on a trip at Disney. The Mousekeeping people have to work hard doing a job that most people would not want to do for a low wage. (Not to mention baggage people, taxi drivers, etc.) So if we're spending all this money on our trip, what's a little bit extra to thank these people.
To answer RLAlden, we bring an envelope marked Mousekeeping and leave the money in there midweek (put it somewhere they'll see it like bathroom mirror) or else just stick a note on the money so they'll know it's for them. :yo-yo:

$5 on TNT day, and $10-20 on full cleaning day and checkout day, depending on the size of the unit. I don't tip because I feel I have to, but because I enjoy hopefully brightening someone's day.

Having been through tough times many years ago, I remember how an extra $5 here and there really could make a difference in my life.

I always tip for extra towels soap etc. from the hallway

I leave an envelope with $5-10 on T & T day and $10-15 on the last day (depending on how many people we have). I let my daughter help me decorate the envelopes with Mickey stickers and write "Mousekeeping" on them. It's fun for her and gives us a little bit of craft time on vacation. She's a little young right now, but as she gets older I hope it will also teach her to appreciate people who work to make our vacation more pleasant.
