Hello! We have never stayed DVC before but will be at BLT 9/13-9/20 for a DVC stay. I think I will get mouse keeping twice, right? Do you tip like you would in the normal resort rooms? Is yes, what amount would you tip?
I tip like a normal room which means I don't tip at WDW because I only tip people in a tipped position and Disney housekeeping is not. I'm not aware of any timeshares in the UY that are and it's about 50/50 for hotels so I ask where applicable. All you will get for 7 nights is a trash and towel once, no full cleaning.Hello! Since Disney and the unions classify housekeeping as a non tipped position.
Agreed and c/w what I posted above. However, when such a question comes up I normally qualify it by saying that if they do something extra I would generally tip depending on specifics and truthfully, they often do.As I posted, everyone has their own feelings about tipping but I just can't wrap my head around tipping someone because they did the job that they are paid to do.
Cleaning a room and stocking it with supplies is what our dues pay them to do. If they don't do their job correctly, they should be put on notice and we should get a dues credit.

I wish they'd allow you to go find whomever got our room ready and did (or didn't) do trash and towel or full cleaning correctly.
I do like to tip, but I am not suggesting anybody else should. Since it is a non-tipping position, as others have said, I don't see an obligation. The reason I choose to do it is that our experiences have been overwhelmingly positive over the years, with consistent great service. Minimum wage, or even a little more, is not a whole lot to live on. I am on an expensive vacation with my family. Leaving a small amount of money for the people who help to make that vacation nice, and who probably don't make enough money to go on a vacation like that themselves, just seems like a kind gesture to me, so I do it. It doesn't cost me much financially, and it might make one of those workers feel good.

Less than $9 in any state is not a livable wage. After taxes, they bring home less than $300 a week if they worked 40 hours. Most people on cash reservations pay this for 1 night.
When I emailed Member Satisfaction about whether housekeepers can keep tips, this is the reply I got:
Hello Jean,
Thank you for contacting DISNEY VACATION CLUB®.
We appreciate your interest in a DISNEY VACATION CLUB Resort.
Although they are not required, Members may feel free to leave
housekeeping tips as a form of recognizing their gratitude for the
service provided. Housekeepers are able to accept any tip that is marked
for Housekeeping. Members may, also, leave any unopened foods that they
do not wish to take with them for housekeepers as well.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
Sincerely,
Donna

For DVC we usually opt out of T&T day because we have laptops set up for working mornings and we prefer not to have anyone in the room
For full cleaning days we tip as follows:
$5.00 for studio or 1 bedroom
$10.00 for 2 bedroom
We also leave the same on our check out day for the turnover of the room that's necessary.
To me there's not a right or wrong, it's just whatever you prefer doing.
Also note that "accept" is not the same as "keep." That was a very specifically written PR response that, on the surface, appears to answer the question, but doesn't really say anything at all.Housekeepers work for Disney resorts not the DVC so DVC might not really know the policy. In addition, tipping/money/payroll is not a subject that Disney wants to talk about from a PR stand point so we may never know the policy.Bill
