Tipping for Cabana Host on Castaway Cay?

No where does that say they wait on you hand and foot. You still get a lot for your money..imo.[/QUOTE]

Agree. It is definitely worth it.

We've had hit and miss experience with our four times having a cabana, but usually good service. We never sail concierge, so we do tip accordingly. We had one stop where we had two good cabana hosts and gave them each $20. Last year, we only saw one host, and we gave her $30. She took time to take multiple family photos and suggesting different shots. At the end, granted it was pouring and she had stopped at our cabana, she took time to speak with us, get to know us. We had another situation where DH was scheduled for a 10 AM parasailing, and our hostess kept in touch with Marge's Barges for status. His 10 AM was eventually cancelled, and she rescheduled it for him for the afternoon and took him to Marge's herself. The other factor in our favor all of these times is our cabana has been either #7 or #6, the two closest to the cabana host station. The cabana hosts NEVER leave me with the impression they expect a tip from non-concierge guests but appreciate it.

When we get a cabana we are sailing concierge and since the cabana hosts are the concierge hosts, we just tip them once at the end of the cruise. If we weren't sailing concierge & had a cabana, I would tip them at the end of the day, the amount depending on how much they did for us. There are 5 of us, and I my tip would probably range from $20 (regularly checking in on us but no extra requests) to $50 (if they did a lot, like replenish towels, bring extra sand toys or sunscreen, bring drinks, take away lunch dishes, etc). That may not seem like enough for some people but that is what I would be comfortable with. Hope this helps.

we were at serenity bay and the cabana host was most definitely not one of the concierge hosts.
So yes, we did tip. And quite a lot as i recall as he was very good.
if memory serves, it was $100. I guess i made the calculation based on approximately 20% of the cost of the cabana.

We have had cabanas for 5 different cruises and I can say the hosts have been hit or miss.
Our first time in 2012 we had a lovely women who was popping in all day to chicken us bring us towels take out the wet towels, there were 8 of us. She was tipped.
The next couple of times were on SB and service was not that great, the walk-thru in the morning was about it, no tips.
Then we had a great young man who was training and he was awesome, brought us Off bug repellant because the bugs were bad that go around. We saw him on and off thought-out the day, he took us back to the ship on the golf cart at the end of the day. Well we forgot to bring cash onto the Island, so we had to go on the hunt for him that evening, because we had to give him a tip. Guest Services told me he was at the pool, when we found him he didn't want to take the tip, we insisted.
The last time in November 2014, the man took us in the morning and showed us around and that was about it, no where to be found all day until around 3pm. Then he was back and forth asking if we were ready to head back to the ship, ummmmm no, we will be back before 4:45 like instructed by the Captain. I was so annoyed, we finally dragged ourselves out of the cabana around 4:20 and started to head to the tram, he showed up on the golf cart and drove us back to the ship, but no that was not enough to warrant a tip in my eyes.
