Anyone ever tried tipping the host/hostess when checking in for your PS to get a better table? For example - Chef Mickey's Magic Kingdom side on the glass.

Excellent question ! I would love to pay a little extra to have a great seat at Ohanas for dinner, by the window and seeing the castle !

If I remember correctly you can't see the MK from Chef Mickeys as it is located on the 4th floor.

My understanding is that the CM's are not allowed to accept any such bribes.

Hostess's are in a non-tipped position and therefore cannot accept tips. ( I was a podium girl at Le Cellier back in the day)

cant and wont are two very different things.

If you want a specific table at any restaurant, just ask politely and be prepared to wait. They will always accomodate you as soon as possible. :sunny:

This has come up before. I believe the consensus was that WDW CM's are not allowed to take such an "incentive" and it would do no good to offer one.

When my children were little we ate in Chef Mickey's many many times and always asked for a table by the window. Yes you can see MK, but there are very limited tables in this area. We always got a really good table, BUT we were always willing to wait for one, which meant our wait was longer than normal. That being said, more and more people now are asking for specific tables/areas in restaurants and I think it is much harder to get what you want now. My family still has prefered areas in some WDW resturants and I found if you ask politely and are willing to wait and oh yes the big one IMHO is that we eat really late, most times they try real hard to help you. We never had to "bribe" anyone!!

We had our Thanksgiving dinner in that upper room last year. If I remember correctly there were about 6 tables that were next to the window. A total of about 20 tables in the whole room. We didn't think we would like it in there but it is our favorite spot now. You could request an upper room, by the window if at all possible, when you check in at the podium. In fact, you may want to get there 1/2 hr. earlier so you have a better chance.
