Tipping captain on fireworks cruise

DH and I were wondering how much any of you have tipped your driver/captain on either an Illuminations Cruise or Wishes Fireworks Cruise. It will just be the 2 of us with no food being served. We are doing the Wishes Cruise and know that the captain takes you around the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake and want to tip him/her appropriately. Thanks for the suggestions.

We probably overtipped, but we were three 4 groups (met here in the DIS) spitting the cost and I originally thought there was tax on the cruise. I kept the price per person to round $ and we ended up tipping our captain $35. If I remeber right from previous threads, it really runs the gamut from $5 to $25. Somehow I think a per person amount is makes more sense than a % of cost - but I have no idea why I think that.

Our Captains usually spend more then an hour with us including before and after the cruise so...we generally tip about $30 to $40.

We tipped $30 for 4 people. I think if there are more than 4 people on your illuminations cruise you might want to tip more. The cruise captains do a wonderful job

We did the Illuminations Cruise in July and tipped $25.00.

Seems to me the number of people on a cruise is irrelevant when it comes to determining a tip. The number of people does not impact the work done by the captain....altho it could impact the extent of enjoyment--12 happy, or unhappy, people is bigger than 2!!.........We have been on five cruises....sometimes as the only party and sometimes in a group put together here on DIS........and in each case the tip was determined as a % of the total, generally in the neighborhood of 20%.

It has been true for us...on the illuminations cruise...
