tipping at resturants

At most or all table service restaurants servers have to tip out other staff members like bussers, bartenders or food runners of their tips. They usually tip them based on sales so for example if that server has a table that spends $100 they have to tip those other employees around $5 or 5% in total ,so if you spend $100 and don't tip that server is basically paying $5 out of his pocket to wait on you. That's why tipping at least 15%-20% for good service is a must.

On my last trip I asked a couple servers about this. One at a buffet said he was the server and busser. He also took turns as the host so the tip wasn't shared. I also asked about claiming taxes on tips. He said there was no requirment for them to claim their cash tips. I also noticed in another resturaunt that they did not regularily use runners or bussers. So I'm guessing that they weren't tipping out much there either.

If it is a buffet people generally tip around 10% when served 15%. On the WDW's reciepts is a tipping scale at all sit down dining esablishments I think it was 18-20-22. I know it was a higher amount for tipping but I don't remember the exact numbers all that well.
