Tipping at buffets?

Hello all! Long time lurker but first time poster here! I have been to disney many times now, but the last time we went and were on the dining plan gratuity was included in the cost of the plan. Just curious as to how this works at the buffets now...Is an 18-20% gratuity really expected here or is it included?

10% is the national standard for Buffets but there seem to be even more variables for buffets than normal restaurants. Disney has essentially defined the tipping policy at 18% since they automatically add that amount when using the TIW discount. The higher % combined with the Disney prices makes that quite steep but in fairness, I do think the the CM do more and better than many buffets otherwise. I'm also told that when the Dining plan included tips, they got 18% including at buffets.

This will cover all your questions on tipping. As the moderators close all threads concerning tipping and answer any question here. (see above link).

A quick answer is, for parties with 6 or more there is an automatic gratuity on any meal, including buffets. Period. This includes parties with infants no matter how small, they count.

Other than that there is no automatic tipping, you are free to tip what you wish.

And the dining plan no longer covers any gratuity.
