Stayed @ Poly in May. Had a van pick us up from airport and take us to Poly. The moment we pulled up a lady (worked @ Poly) removed our bags from the car and placed them on down. She told us that the bags would be taken to our room but they she herself would not be the one to deliver them (waiting for tip). Gave it to her, $2.00 per bag. Then again $2.00 per bag for the guy who took the bags to the room.

Does this happen to everyone? Do you double tip for bags? Once to be set from the back of the car onto the ground and then again to be taken to the room?

always happens

unloader gets $5, bellman gets $15

i tip anybody though, u dont have to

It's a most interesting issue isn't it? I've thought about all sides of this and decided that I would just pay and not think about it too much because: The bell people can't, just can't stand there with you in line while you check in because, well it takes too long and there are too many customers. I suppose once dropped at the bell desk it'd be too confusing to send the exact same person to deliver it to your room. I suppose one job or the other could just be know industry wide to not be tipped, but then I thought what if it was my son who had that job! I'd want him tipped for sure and so I'm just going not think about this any more. I'll just pay for the wonderful service.

yes, I guess your right. It just all their doing is setting the bags onto the ground. At least the other is taking the bags from check in to the room.

yes, right again. I don't have to tip if I choose not to. $5.00 and then $10-15 @ the room seems like th "right" thing to do.

That first job is an odd one. At least thats what I think.

I am guessing her name was VAnessa?? She did the same exact thing to us. It really ticked me off. Our car driver took the bags out of the car and put them on the cart and there she is letting us know in her own words that she is looking for a tip. I say do some work then maybe a tip!

I am not cheap by any means and truly a very good tipper. If I go to a restaurant, my bill is $25 (obviously for more than 1 :D) and the service was great, I will leave the waiter/waitress $6.00 - $7.00, although 15% is less than $4.
If somebody takes my bags from the car, puts them on a cart and delivers them to my room, I will give them $2 - $4 a bag depending on how big and heavy they are.
However, if somebody only takes the bags from the vehicle and does nothing more, they are not getting more than $1 a bag from me. Sorry, removing a bag from a vehicle does not warrant any special treatment to me. I could have done that myself and would have.
