I thought it might be fun, not to mention useful, to share our top tips for a great trip. In the interests of allowing everyone to join in and to keep the thread going, let's keep it to one tip per person per day. :thumbsup2

My number one tip is to take time to stop and smell the roses. The trip will be over in a flash and you'll soon be home wondering where it all went. There's so much to do that the temptation is to rush from one attraction to the other without taking the time to really appreciate it all. Relax and chill out; don't let anything wind you up - you're on holiday :thumbsup2 .

I second this completly. Even the walks from one attraction to the next can be full of surprises and it never ceases to amaze me how much detail and effort goes into everything. You only have to look at the buildings on Main Street, MK to see what I mean.

My Tip:
In US, on the wall of the Kwiki Mart, answer the phone if it starts ringing. You never know who will be on the other end.

I totally agree with this too - going last year when pregnant we slowed down even more and I really enjoyed just sitting outside the attractions looking at all the details that are put into the outside let alone the inside!

My tip is when you go on Pirates of the Caribbean go for the right queue line as it is nearly always less of a wait :thumbsup2

(Deb that is very spooky as I was just thinking of suggesting a tip of the week thread to you today)

My tip is to save time, instead queuing up for character photos and autographs have character meals, they might cost a bit but they will probably save you a lot of time that can be spent doing something you would have missed otherwise.

Along the same lines as Deb, don't try to cram every theme park and attraction into your 1st trip. There is no such thing as a 'once in a lifetime' trip to Florida when you've been once you'll be hooked and you will be drawn back year after year. :lovestruc

If visiting Orlando with little ones, go at their pace and take lots of time outs in the shade or aircon, theres nothing worse than watching a frazzled mom/dad trying desperatly to rush through everything while the kids are hot and unhappy, that's no fun ;) (you'd be surprised how many times i've seen this, it's such a shame) Enjoy! :cloud9:

Along a similar theme, there is a lot to Disney World beyond the parks. If you have the time explore some of the deluxe resorts (perhaps have a meal there), stroll around DTD, have a round of minature golf, vist Disney Quest etc. Use these as breaks at the hottest times of the day perhaps but don't rush around them as that will defeat the excercise.:cool1:

My Tip - Do a little bit of planning before you leave home and it'll greatly enhance your holiday. :surfweb: (but then thats why you found the dis boards!)

Buy the refillable mugs if you are staying onsite

My tip for today: "Try everything at least once"

Even if you're pretty sure you won't like something or you have no interest in something give it a go, you just might be surprised and at least you can say 'done it, didn't like it but i've done it'.

We missed out on so much in 2004 because descriptions didn't sound appealing but because we wanted to have the knowledge of what everyone talked about we tried those things last year and wish we had of done in 2004, we were pleasantly surprised :thumbsup2

My tip is do DTD checkin, if you can, as it is so much nicer getting to MCO and ahving no luggage to contend with when dropping off the hire car :)

Claire ;)

Great tips :thumbsup2

My tip is to take a water bottle into the parks with you and fill them up at the fountains, if you keep buying drinks it can work out really expensive plus its better to drink water in the heat. :goodvibes

My tip would be to get to the parks for opening, you can get so many rides done in the 1st 2 hours before the crowds and the heat build up!

My tip is to try and eat ready salted crisps as well as drink plenty of water, when your out all day in the searing heat.
your body loses alot of salt in the heat and this can cause you to feel ill, have headaches etc, by having some crisps it replenishes some of the salt you have lost. :)

also NEVER drink diet sodas in the heat...you need the sugar for energy! NB drinks with caffiene in them dehydrate you more ie coke, dr pepper and root beer.

My tip:

If staying onsite and leaving the parks at closing time don't rush to the bus stops. Get a drink and a snack and find a nice spot to sit and people watch as everyone else rushes out :)

You can then walk slowly out of near empty park (really nice in Epcot World Showcase) and catch a bus to your resort with little or no wait.

Don't worry, buses run for at least an hour after park closing and they will never leave resort guests stranded in the parks :)

If it's really busy - my tip is to choose two or three rides you really want to go on - try and fastpass 1 or 2 if possible - everything else is a bonus :)

My tip would be, If eating off site look out for the little books of vouchers that you can find all over the place, you can save between 10 & 25%. :thumbsup2

For people staying on site and not driving we found mears shuttles a great way to get to sea world and universal studios, it cost $16 each return and you can book the day before at the hotel concierge. It can work out cheaper than a taxi depending on how many there is in your party.
