Tip not included ( Need some help)$$$$

I was recently looking at some menus on allearsnet, Crystal Palace dinner which is a character list prices and at the bottom states gratuity not included, what do you tip and who gets it, the server or the characters, then on some of the other character buffets there is nothing stated. So I am a litttle confused on what and how much do you tip.

The tip is never included EXCEPT if your on the Magic Your Way Dining Plan or if your party consists of eight or more people.

You tip your server by leaving the money on the table at the end of the meal, or in the check folder. Actually, if you charge your meal you can add the tip onto the charge slip.

As for how much to tip at a buffet - sorry, I'm not getting into that one

You never tip the characters. That's true in the parks and in the restaurants.

Some people say the "normal" tip for a buffet is 10-15% and others say you should tip the same as a regular restaurant 15-20%. With MYW Dining disney tips the included tip is the same as a regular restaurant.

If the service is good I'll tip 20% for a full service restaurant and about 15% for a buffet. On a $25 buffet the difference between a 10% tip and a 15% tip isn't much more than $1.

be careful of tips being included. we just got back, were on the dining plan but ordered a few drinks and were billed separately, an 18% gratuity was added every time, once at Boma when there was only 5 of us and then when there was 6 of us at Ca Grill, Le Cellier and Kona Cafe. I didn't realize it at first and was adding significantly more tip, trying to increase the 15% automatically paid on the dining plan. In retrospect I think I overtipped for not so great service, at least at Le Cellier.
