Just a reminder ;)

Last week we paid off our cruise w/CC. Before the day was over our credit union called confirming this large purchase was authorized. We were very greatful! Our CC offers extra travel benefits, so for us it is more logical to pay w/CC and settle up when trip is over. It also reminded us of our trip to Europe last yr, where we did not contact our CC and tell them of travels. While on trip, it was suspended due to excessive charging. Beware, this also applies to your ATM/Cash card. Not sure if this has happened to many, but this time we are contacting the credit union to make them aware of our travels.

Many ATM/Cash cards also have daily spending limits. DCL makes charges when you hit a set amt. during your cruise so this shouldn't be a problem for most but we had to split our tickets over 2 days to get around this. We were also called by the security dept of our card (PayPal) when we did the initial charge & later in the week when there were 4 or 5 charges for rooms, tickets, etc., all to Disney travel related merchants!

That happened to us, only our credit card company didn't bother to notify us they were suspending our card because of a large purchase. I went to use the card and was declined. I'm glad they were checking, but someone could have called or sent a letter.

PayPal is very good about that. We used the card here at home (VT) and then a couple of days later in Seattle (WA) and PayPal called to verify the charges, giving the distance.

We never let them know when we cruised in 1/01 and they never stopped letting us charge. But maybe things have changed since 9/11, I dunno....maybe we should go ahead and call them this time, it would be very inconvenient to have them stop our cards while we're vacationing.

That reminds me, our phone card was stopped once a few years ago. Our son was at the hospital with his girlfriend as her brother had been in an auto accident and was in surgery and we allowed him to use our calling card number to call relatives and friends to let them know, but after a few calls the phone company stopped allowing him to use it. We had to call them to let them know he had our permission to use it. We thought it was nice of them, but it was kind of inconvenient for our son.
