Tip at world of color?

I don't, never seen anyone who did. You could try but IMHO remember their name and go straight to Commerce (? Is that what they call DCA's City Hall?) and fill out a comment card complementing the server. I've read these can be very helpful to CMs.

Non-restaurant server CMs are not allowed to accept monetary tips, but definitely put in a CM Compliment for your server at Chamber of Commerce (DCA), City Hall (DL), or online at the DLR website. The comments go to the CM's supervisors and into the CM's file. This way the supervisors will know that this particular CM is doing a great job and be able to acknowledge her accordingly. Be as detailed as possible about what she did that was so special!

The website clearly states that the price includes tax and gratuity, so you don't need to tip and I wouldn't think the servers expect it. We've never tipped at Dessert Party. However, last time we were there, I did see a server accept a tip, so if you really wanted to, you could.

I agree about the compliment to Guest Services; we always do that when we receive great service.

What did they do that was so special?

Share the CM with us too!!

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Our server was Ada. I had a gluten free and dairy free special plate. She brought that first and brought special bread for me too. She came around several times to make sure we had everything and brought quick drink refills. She brought us all little water bottles when one person asked for water. Nice after a hot day in the parks. She spent some time talking to us about the different shows and recommended we come back for the Christmas one. (I wish, but it's not so easy from Calgary!) But the best part was that DS14 had been stung by a bee on Screamin' a short while before. We were actually a little late checking in because of that. I don't know if she heard us talking or saw the ice pack we had made for him or if she was just being really nice, but she brought him the WOC light-up glass and made him feel special.

Just finished packing because we leave tomorrow. I'll post some other comments on other things in the next few days - payback for all the great threads and help I've had from here. It was a magical last night (apart from the bee sting)!

That's interesting because we've always been told by CMs (the ones who don't work inside a restaurant) that they can't accept the money.
Certain positions outside the restaurants can accept tips. Tour guides are tipable and Special Events CMs (they do the set ups like the old Fantasmic! Dessert party, the WOC dessert, and various other events like the Tower of Terror going away party.) CMs outside this group cannot accept tips.

Good to know. Do you follow the 15% and up rule or is the amount at your discretion?
Technically 15% is a guideline not a rule. Tips are always at your discretion. In a case like this where the tip/gratuity is already included I would not base it on the cost of the meal/event (never understood that anyway). I would just do whatever I thought was right for the extra special service.

LOL! Exactly. Too many people choose to interpret "guideline" as "optional or not-necessary-if-I'm-not-in-the-mood" -- so we choose to think of it as a "rule" so that we don't forget anyone, whether we remember them monetarily or with a CM compliment. Otherwise, with our short memories (!), we probably will forget!

I understood that, but the question was specifically in the context because I know Malcont10t has lots of experience with the VIP tours and plaids.

Technically, there is a tip built into the dessert party, so for me, it would be "my discretion". For me, it would depend on what extra they did for me.If I am leaving with a big smile, they are likely getting an extra $10-20.

What was on the dairy-free plate? (My BFF has a dairy allergy so I'm trying to figure out what she might be getting.)

I am also very curious what your gluten and dairy free desert options were. I am dairy allergic and my daughter has celiac disease and I have avoided even considering desert parties.
