An increasing number of restaurants and salons in the NY area are requesting no tips on credit cards. I wonder if employee added tips, and customers claiming the tip was employee added, might be one reason.
Maybe there should be something added to the bottom of your check where you can indicate how much of a credit card tip you want added. Maybe even a place where you can check 15,18 or 20% (and let the computer do the math), fill in other amount or check a box which says any tip will be left as cash. The TIP can then be added to the bill when your credit card is swiped. The slip you sign will have the tip you specified listed and included in the total.
