The green card that you are given either on the plane or at boarding. Hints for filling it in -
Nationality - UK not british or scottish as they only recognise uk.
Make sure you fill the front, that includes the bottom bit that is bellow the perforated section and the back. If you dont you will simply be sent away to fill it in correctly once you reach immigration.

It used to be that when you were given the forms out the stewards helped you fill them in by going through it question by wuestion but they dont seem to do this now - probably because they have so much to do.

Hope this helps.

does anyone know if you can obtain these before you go...i end up doing everything like forms and it would be nice to have it all done beforehand.

Some airlines give them to you before boarding and most will have an instructional film for you to watch if you are worried about filing them in. I alwasy ask for several as I always make a mistake somehwere.

Ive always used British and never had any problems!!

Be careful about filling them in. I made a mistake last time and they wanted me to leave the queue. When I tried to correct the cards at the desk they threatened to have me removed from the hall!

place where you came from is the airport MAN for manchester dont put Wigan like BIL

I know you posted this a few weeks ago but thought this may help We always go to the airport and pick up Visa Waiver & Custom forms and fill them in prior to flying, so if you do not live to far away from the airport this is by far much easier than filling them in on the flight. You could also try contacting your airline direct and see if they can mail them out to you.

last year we were given these at twilight checkin - and good job they gave us spares as i always make mistakes on them. Lets hope that this year I can get it right!!!

Hmm - I always mess them up too - I always write on the wrong line - i can't remember if it's above or below the printed text that you write but it catches me out EVERY time :0)

Glad that's not just me - it's even the same place every time - I think it's the name first and I get that right, then date of birth is just to the right - and man, I put that on the wrong line every single time.

I always put British in the nationality box - and they've let me in more than 10 times :) . UK is a country, not a nationality. You would put UK at the country of residence/origin space.

Yeap. UK is not a nationality but where they think we live.

Never had any problems with British, After all it's what they force us to put on those cenus forms so it should be good enough for immigration!

I am a bit of a rebel and ALWAYS put English. Been 10 times now and it has never been queried! Probably only a matter of time though!

LOL Jackie you are a rebel! :cool1:

I often wish I could put Scottish but I don't want to risk it. I just 'grin' and bear it.

If someone asked you on the street, 'What nationality are you?' how many would actually say British? Not many I'd guess.

I think it's supposed to be like that on the form because our passports don't distinguish between Scotland, England, Wales and N Ireland. Until each gets its own passport (never gonna happen!!) then I'll continue to put British I suppose.

Good luck Jackie, hope they keep letting you in! :earsgirl:

I would say I was British if someone asked me on the street.

It seems its only the scots, irish and welsh who dont want to admit to being British!!

Presumably due to the bad reputation of our football supporters! (or thats the official line anyway!)

Personally I dont mind wether I am British or English and I dont feel embarassed or ashamed to admit either, I do prefer to say British as I like the idea of Scotland Ireland Wales & England been a big group with different plans/ideas/sports teams etc, That come together as a one big happy :teeth: United Kingdom (No pun intended?!?!)
