I know that a lot of you are mama's and have visited DL many times. My husband and I are thinking of having another baby but we have a DL trip planned for next Oct. So my question is would you rather be at DL pregnant (say 3-5 months since we could wait until next spring to get pregnant) or with a tiny baby (around 6-8 weeks old). We will be driving from Idaho and have 2 other kids who will be 5 and 7. We are also planning on going with our best friends who have 2 kids ages 7 and 10 at that time.

ALSO- what rides are definite no-nos when you are pregnant? :lovestruc

I would rather go pregnant. All the rides you would expect are no nos - space mountain, ca Screamin, etc. I would just be too tired with a small baby to keep up. I just wanted to be in bed those first few months.

Having said that, it sounds like you are planning around something that may not happen on the exact schedule you have in mind. You might prepare yourself for that. It might take months or longer to get pregnant again.

You are totally correct that it may not happen right away! However my other kids were first time tries ;) My midwife always jokes that my body really likes to be pregnant :rotfl2: I think I am leaning more towards wanting to be pregnant too. While I tend to bounce back quickly after having babies I've never taken a big trip afterwards ;)

I've done both! Gone at 8 months pregnant, driving from NorCal (about 6ish hours). And taking my son at 2 months along with my older son who was 22 months. I enjoyed both, even though they were different experiences.

I was of course, super tired when pregnant, but it was my first baby so it was just DH and I. I had more energy with both the boys because I was excited to see oldest DS reactions to everything at the parks. Although, I did feel like I missed out on some things because I was in the baby center a lot either nursing, or changing my 2 month old. I just carried my 2 month old in a moby wrap the entire time and it worked out wonderful. The kids love looking back at old photos of themselves :goodvibes

Which ever you end up choosing I think you will have a great time! Just be prepared to take lots of breaks and don't over do it!

I've been to Disney pregnant (4 months) and with a 8-week old. For me both was fairly easy going. Traveling with a 2 month old was pretty easy. She was still sleeping majority of the time so she stayed either in the stroller or in a baby bjorn. It was easy, bottles in between rides or even standing in the lines. She went on everything without a height requirement in the bjorn. I only had trouble one time on TSMM. I had previously taken her on in her bjorn no problems. Next time the CM told me I needed to take her out and sit her on my lap, I told him that she can't even hold her head up yet. He confirmed with another CM and said because she was strapped to me it was fine. Other than that it was easy breezy! At that age... really just eat sleep poop! Haha!

Going pregnant was easy as well. Just stay hydrated and bring snacks. I would get out of breath a lot though! I had my 18 month old and 7 year old as well so it was pretty exhausting! Definitely do-able! I wasn't too big yet being only 4-5 months. You are able to right everything w/o a height requirement, although some recommend pregnant women shouldn't ride. I would talk to your doctor before going and also use your judgement on how you are feeling. There are some rides that I missed out on because of the warnings but the following year I went on and realized that it wouldn't have been bad if I did ride, for example Luigi's tires, the bumping wasn't bad at all. Roger rabbits on the other hand... ugh! Would not recommend that ride AT ALL! Soarin' also recommends pregnant women should not ride, probably if you get nauseous I wouldn't ride! I was fine so I rode that one anyway. I skipped the thunder & space. I would just use your judgement on rides. Only you know how your feeling and if your gut instinct says no, then no. Hope this helps a little!

We did disney world last year when I was 7 month pregnant. We were not planning to have more kids when we booked the trip and we had to take it then or not go at all. I had a lot of fun, we left the kids at home and had an adult trip, I had more stamina than the rest of our group. I may have rode on rides I wasn't supposed to but my OBGYN wasn't to worried about it and neither was I. I didn't do rollers coasters, other than BRMRR and didn't do dinosaur, the equivalent to Indy, I don't recommend riding the do not ride rides though just because you don't know what might happen. He was born 5 weeks early, although not likely because of DW but who really knows why. I wouldn't want to go with a new baby personally.

I vote neither - lol
BUT I would go pregnant before I would take an infant ever again....
It can happen ANYWHERE but our last trip our then 6 month old came down with a very serious illness which was picked up somewhere in the parks and or hotel. Not something I EVER thought of before that trip but something I will never, not think of now.

Is this about preggo the pasta sauce? In which case I like it. Otherwise, nevermind.
:faint:

;)

I've been to Disneyland pregnant twice, and with a baby once. With the baby it was really easy to hand him off to do ride switches and I have also found the park to be very nursing mom friendly.
The first time I went while pregnant was at 22 weeks with twins. I have very pregnancies and have found the parks easy to navigate. Recently I went again (36 weeks with a single baby) accompanied by two of my boys. While I enjoyed the experience it was kind of a bummer to miss out on all of the best rides. Standing in line also kind of sucked.

If I had to chose a very little baby or pregnant I would do pregnant. I think the earliest I would want to take a baby would be 6 months.

If you would have asked me right after my first two pregnancies I would have said pregnant. I had easy pregnancies and felt mostly good. A little uncomfortable in the last month or so but overall felt pretty much the same as always.

With my third baby my pregnancy was not the same at all. I wont go into details but there was no way I could have traveled with that pregnancy.

I haven't been to Disney with a baby younger than 10/11 months but we did travel all over with our kids as newborns/young infants and never had an issue. I think dd1 had been to 7 countries before she hit 7 months (we were living overseas at the time).

I hope you have a great trip no matter what you decide!

I've done both, at the same stages as you're talking about, and then some. I think it depends on what you want to get out of the trip. If the baby is here, you can take advantage of rider swap and go on the big rides. But, you'll be spending a lot of time feeding and changing diapers, which might cause you to skip rides. If you're pregnant, you could be extra tired and nauseous, and you can't go on the big rides. Or, you could feel great, but not be able to do the big rides. I've enjoyed both, but think I'd choose pregnant for the simple fact that I could enjoy my older child's excitement more. I also have easy pregnancies. When I brought the baby at 6-ish weeks, I was too concerned about her to get the full enjoyment out of the day. After 4 months, it's been great. Earlier was a little harder.
Good luck with whatever you choose! I hope it's a great trip!

I went when I was 28 weeks pregnant and I only ride things that DID NOT have a warning. It was fun. But I missed out on a lot.

I also took our 3 month old too. That was an easy trip. I breastfed so it was soooo easy. She just chilled and napped in the stroller. I personally wouldn't take a 6 week old. I just think that is so young. A friend took their infant (like a fresh baby) to Disneyland and coincidentally the baby got meningitis. They believed it was contracted in the parks or hotel from that trip and they regretted taking their baby so young.

In 2005, I was 15 weeks preggo and went to DL.

I rode only the safe rides, except for one time on the Matterhorn.

The worst part of that trip aside from my the person I went with, was a boy who ran up to me while I was sitting down eating popcorn during a firework show, and purposely knocked it out of my hand.

I totally cried, like full on hormonal tears.

To this day, it is the most embarrassing crying in public moment for me.

But I side track.

Have a fun trip no matter when you go.

I cried (not tears of happiness) last time we went too and I didn't even have the excuse do being pregnant.

I went when I was 13 weeks pregnant a few years back. My OB said I could ride anything that did not press on my belly or do loops. Her thought was when you were not that far along baby is so well protected in there. She said women farther along with bigger bellies have more concern in her opinion. Each OB will be different though so def check with your OB.

I rode everything inside disneyland and just avoided tower of terror and screamin'.

Side note: I was pregnant and breastfeeding a 10 month old at the time so I'd say I did both. Neither was enjoyable since I was tired and had to deal with diapers/ feedings of a little guy still.

Our next trip is in December and my youngest is now 4. We specifically waited until there were no diapers and past the ages of mandatory nap time. Can't wait to go back because this trip will be far more fun!!!!

I think this is a totally personal decision based on what you want to do (coasters?) at the park and how you feel during pregnancy vs early infancy. I went last December when I was 10 weeks pregnant and it wasn't the happiest of vacations due to some nausea (which I was taking meds for). We are going back in 3 weeks when the baby will be 4 1/2 months and I think we are going to have a much better experience this go around. (I also have a daughter who is 3 1/2). I haven't been on any big-kid rides since our trip in June 2012 (I went twice in 2013) so I'm looking forward to hopefully getting on a few, even if they are by myself.

Everyone brings up so really good points! It's so hard to know how you are going to feel at any given time during or after pregnancy! Thank you all for your insights and personal stories though! ::yes::

Pregnant.
3 kids are relentless and I think it will allow you to do some special thongs with your other two, where once baby is here at 6 or 8 weeks you will find a huge amount of your energy will be feeding, changing getting them to sleep etc.
I did WDW 6 months along taking DD who was 19 months at the time and had a ball.
Plus especially if you know what you are having you can buy them cute stuff like an earhat =)
