Tiny Infant or Preggo?

We specifically waited until there were no diapers and past the ages of mandatory nap time. Can't wait to go back because this trip will be far more fun!!!!

God I would much rather diapers....I hate the "we are 2/3rds the way through the line so now I need to pee even though you took me to the toilet on the way into this line" you get when they are a bit older (but still little)

OP-there are pros and cons to both (as I said I would choose pregnant over 6-8 week old baby, I would not make any plans pre 3 months with a baby) and that is true with every stage of having kids, there are pros and cons to a 4 year old vs. a 9 year old etc

For me, personally...um...neither? Ha! I was nauseated for 28 weeks of my pregnancy. Then had other various complications. So yeah, pregnant at Disneyland sounds horrible.

And my son was colicky for a LONG time. So again, dealing with that on vacation? No way!

It really is such a personal decision so for yourself, I'd just weigh the pros and cons for you.

If you're pregnant, you'd want to avoid rollercoasters and anything that's rough, like Indiana Jones.

I know that a lot of you are mama's and have visited DL many times. My husband and I are thinking of having another baby but we have a DL trip planned for next Oct. So my question is would you rather be at DL pregnant (say 3-5 months since we could wait until next spring to get pregnant) or with a tiny baby (around 6-8 weeks old). We will be driving from Idaho and have 2 other kids who will be 5 and 7. We are also planning on going with our best friends who have 2 kids ages 7 and 10 at that time.

ALSO- what rides are definite no-nos when you are pregnant? :lovestruc

Haven't read the other replies but my answer is PREGGO!!!!! FOR SURE!!!!

I speak from experience!

It depends on a few things. Will you breast feed or bottle? I imagine bottle feeding would be cumbersome. Breast feeding, if you've done it with your other kids should be no problem. Illness- 6-8 month old babies don't have all their vaccinations, lots of germs at any amusement park. Breast feeding will be an advantage in that case too, also how vigilant you are with hand washing/ hand sanitizer, and avoiding handrails, etc.
Also how able you feel you will be handling your other kids as well as the baby. The other kids are the ones that will wear you out.
Pregnant, if it's after 3 weeks, and before 6 months I think you'll be fine. 2nd trimester is usually when you feel best anyway. If you're going to be anything past 6 months, I'd just wait for baby.
If I were pregnant, I'd avoid pretty much anything that jostles you a lot. Roller coasters mostly. But that's really up to you.

I've gone twice while pregnant (3 months and just got back at 7 months), and I would definitely prefer going while pregnant. I couldn't imagine having a little baby in the parks if you're looking for any kind of vacation with relaxation (though of course, everyone's babies are different!)

As far as coasters go while pregnant (and yes, I realize it's every person's personal decision), my doctor gave the A-OK for EVERY Disney ride at 3 months. He said all the rides are pretty tame with low g-forces, and none bumpier than the average car or airplane ride. He said that early on, they have ample cushioning and their weight is so light that there isn't much danger of placental abruption or things like that. I ended up riding every ride based on his information, and had no issues. However if I did it again, I'd avoid Matterhorn and Indy even that early because they were REALLY jolty. But Space, BTMRR and Splash were really smooth and didn't feel extreme at all. I was tossed about much worse on the airplane ride!

This last trip at 7 month, I stayed off of every no-preggo ride, as this pregnancy has been riddled with issues since day 1. But even then, I felt I could have ridden at least Splash and Soarin' without a problem, as both are super smooth and gentle. I just didn't go for it because I didn't want to stand in line on my swollen preggo sausage feet :p

Anyway, 3-5 months in my opinion is prime time to go, but if riding big rides is important to you and are planning to stay away from them all together while pregnant, then perhaps doing rider swap with a newborn is the better choice. :)

Good luck on your decision!

My thoughts....don't ride anything you feel 'iffy' about even if your doctor okays it. Because if something were to happen to your baby, even if it was completely unrelated...you would probably end up regretting it and feeling guilty forever. To me, a ride just isn't worth that.

I swore I'd never be pregnant at Disney. I don't want to miss any rides.

But, I desperately want to go next year. We went last year, skipped this year, I don't want to wait another year!
I just turned 34. If we wait til after out trip to conceive, I will nearing 36 when I give birth. I also have conceived very easily thus far. My first was a missed pill and and 2nd was the first cycle off the pill.
IDK what to do. Try now, go DL with an infant? Go pregnant? Or just wait til after? :headache:

We got AP for the first time, and then i got preggo. So, I went in March with my 8 year old and in June of 2013 with my DH and DS. We purposely went after our u/s so we knew what we were having...and got 2 princess ears for our twins. I stayed hydrated and ate...did I miss out on screamin and other rides...yes, but we just got back from celebrating their first bday at DL.

I am done with my baby having days, but I think I would vote for going preggo and not with a tiny baby. I was such a worry wort when mine we babies that I wouldn't have had any fun and I would have been worried about all the germs in the parks. So my vote is, go preggo. As for rides, I would have skipped the roller coasters, but I bet most other things are fine. Good Luck with your decision!:)

I really don't want to miss BTMMR :rotfl: we were there last year and it was down for refurb and it's my FAVORITE ride! That being said I can totally do without all the other coasters. I'm not a big Space Mountain or Matterhorn fan and I've never done Screamin' so I'm not worried about missing it again.

We would not be finding out the gender since it's more fun to be surprised for us! But I know that I can still find cute gender neutral stuff. I think I am really leaning toward being preggo and starting to try late next spring! Thanks so much again for all your experiences.

For me, I just decided to wait. We were thinking about planning a last minute WDW trip when I got pregnant. So we didn't go and we pushed back any trips until our child was around 1.5 years (which will be our upcoming trip.) It stinks to wait a few years between trips but I am so glad we did.

this is probably what we're going to do but I still wonder. I really don't want to be pregnant there, it just doesn't seem like a super fun time for me. yeah. I'm selfish like that. I want to have fun too :thumbsup2

I ended up having all-day nausea for 28 weeks so I definitely wouldn't want to be in a theme park. Ha!

I went aroun 4.5m pregnant and that was the only time in my pregnancy that my feet and ankles were swollen (as in I had a dr appt the day after I got home and she was quite concerned with how swollen they were) from the heat and the walking.

After about 5 months, I bought and started wearing compression socks when I went. Helped tremendously! No swelling!

I've also been to Disneyland both pregnant and with a baby. I'd say as long as you aren't too far along and you're comfortable, go for it. I rode all the "kiddie rides" I hadn't ridden in years & had a blast. Then I brought DD when she was 6 mos. old, and it's totally doable. The baby care centers are great (esp. the one in DCA, they have rocking chairs for feeding you baby). I don't know how it would be with a small infant, but they would probably just sleep a lot. When DD was 6 mos., she loved all the lights, the parades, and even some of the characters. :thumbsup2
