Just curious...

To me, my tree is not complete without tinsel but I don't see too much of it anymore. I don't care how out of style it may be, I will always tinsel my tree :teeth:

No tinsel....we have a cat and dog that I'm sure would try to eat it.

No tinsel---cats would eat it
Kids would play with it--

It is hard to remove from a tree we are keeping.

So we are tinsel free.

I must have tinsel. But it has to be the individual string kind. NOT the garland stuff.
My MIL puts both on her tree and I think that's a bit much.

No tinsel. It goes along with Easter grass -- too much of a mess, and it tangles up the vacuum cleaner. Both are banned from my house. Just call me a grinch, I guess. :sunny:

No tinsel...I have a hard enough time keeping my dog from eating the LIGHTS...I can't imagine having to worry about tinsel.

When I was growing up tinsel was a big deal on the tree. It wasn't complete without it. Then one of our cats ate it and an emergency trip to the vet ensued! Now over the years with my own tree I've looked for good alternatives. I use the red shiny bead garland. I also found this really pretty snowflake garland. It is made of small white snowflakes with sparklys on them. I wrap that around too before putting on the ornaments and it looks very pretty.

I agree, I've heard it called tacky before but I just don't care. I love the way the lights bounce off of it.

We are a tinsel-free household ever since my DS-then 8 found 3 boxes of tinsel and put all on the tree :rotfl: Our tree was so shiny it looked like aluminum foil. People would stop in the street just to look at it.That thing would nearly blind you.

No tinsel b/c
(1) we have 2 dogs who would probably try to eat it; and
(2) it is a PITA to clean up after the holidays

We didn't use it much when I was growing up, either b/c we always had artificial trees (real ones were too expensive out in Hawaii) and you could never get all the tinsel off the tree before re-storing it in January.

As far as it being "out of fashion" I don't really think that is true - it is kind of retro, I think.

3 boxes is too many  :teeth:

As I was growing up, yes, we did put tinsel on the tree. Of course, my brother and I would throw handfuls of it on and my mom and sister would delicately place one strand at a time. :rotfl:

Now that I have kids, I don't put any on.

No, I'm too anal and it just doesn't look neat to me. :rotfl: Plus, it is a huge pain to get off of an artificial tree and it screws up the vacuum.

Nope--we have one inquisitive dog so no tinsel at our house. Oddly enough, she doesn't really care about the tree but she is fascinated by the tree skirt and keeps dragging it out from under the tree to sleep on. :teeth:

In my house growing up we had tinsel on the real trees because you can just throw it out. Right now I have a fake tree and you just can't do tinsel on the fake tree!

PS - I hate having a fake tree...

My 3 cats and dog just don't allow for tinsel. Knowing them they would try to eat it, or drag it all over the house. Also, we have a fake tree and I just don't have the patience to try and clean it off.

My aunt put tinsel on her tree once...the dog ate it. Let's just say she did not have a joyous holiday season! :rotfl:

Tinsel!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

If the cat or dog eats it.....then they'll have shiny poo :lmao: how festive huh??!! :rotfl2:
