Hey Guys!
We are looking at timing for our wedding. Our wedding ceremony and reception will be taking place in our villa on Reunion Resort.

Initially we wanted our ceremony at 11am, followed by cocktail hour/photos, then at 1:30/2pm our brunch with speeches, then more photos (at Disney's Boardwalk)...at 6pm the DJ would arrive, we'd cut the cake and do first dances etc, and then have the disco.

Then we thought,
12pm ceremony, followed by cocktails and snacks and photos at Boardwalk, then 5pm brunch/dinner, followed by DJ at 6pm for speeches, cake cutting and dances, then disco til 10pm.

If you were a guest at the wedding which would you prefer?!

Thanks!

either way, it looks like a long day for your guests and i am not sure where your locations are? if this is a DFTW event (it doesn't seem like it is), your planner can guide with the timeline? overall, i suppose i would vote for the later ceremony? i assume you mean either lunch or dinner for the meals (not brunch?) and it is awesome to have cocktail/appetizer hour but also cocktails without a meal soon after (especially a first meal of the day? if you mean brunch?) may make people tired or over served! :) people do have those long breaks between events though, i guess as a guest i would rather the later? how long do you think your ceremony is? why wouldn't you have the cocktail hour while you take pictures and then start the meal? i mean, it seems like a long break from when the ceremony is until the reception?

i am no help! sorry!! :)

I call it brunch but it's probably more of a dinner, we're just serving brunch foods.

The ceremony time doesn't really make too much of a difference, I guess. I just don't want our guests bored (we are having the wedding at a huge villa complete with games room and movie theatre) or hungry while we head over to the Boardwalk for photos.
Our ceremony won't be longer than 20minutes. Not too much to it. lol.

Thanks for your help! :)

Do you have a wedding coordinator? If not, I highly suggest you meet with one to hammer out the day-of timeline. From what you have planned for your reception, you could even push the ceremony to as late as 2pm or 3pm (since you said it's going to be pretty brief) and still have time for post-ceremony photos and pull off a 5pm reception. Heck, you could do the photos at Boardwalk before the ceremony so that your guests aren't waiting around while your wedding party is having their pictures taken. I know that if I were a guest, I would get really restless attending a wedding for 11 hours (11am ceremony till end of reception at 10pm = 11 hours. That's a long day to be in a dress & heels for this gal, lol.)

And I'm having trouble understanding why you're serving brunch during dinnertime, but that's your choice. If you know that your crowd will enjoy this, then more power to you. But, like I said, if I'm attending a wedding for 11ish hours, I'm going to expect more than waffles & scrambled eggs.

With both options I'm feeling hungry as the times cover both lunch and dinner but I'm only getting fed brunch.

I think we decided to go for a 3pm dinner. The brunch includes, omelettes, crepes etc. In addition there will be a chicken and pasta dish and ham... there will be a lot of food, so no one will be hungry.

We will also be serving food later in the evening...sliders, and lots of snack foods. Don't worry, we won't let anyone go hungry. :)
