Will you have a FP+ for ROL or will you be doing standby?

If you have a FP+, then it would be a maybe for me. FP arrival time is 8:35-9:00 so that would give you 2.5-3 hours. It would still be tight, but possible if you have no travel delays. If you arrive at MCO at 5:55 pm, you should be at AKL by 7:30 pm, so you would have an hour to get from AKL to to AK and walk to the FP area for ROL.

If doing standby, I do not know if I would rush to AK just for ROL. I have heard reviews all over the place about seat availability for standby for ROL.

1. I wouldn't burn a theme park day ticket for just RoL.
2. If you have a FP, you still need to be at the back of the park (across from Everest by whatever is 10 min BEFORE the show, or they fill in the seats with stand-by guests. Of course, you lose nothing by having a FP that you don't make, unless you'll be going to another park like MK which is open 'til midnight for EMH.

You might just make it, but I'd find out whether AKL is typically a first or last stop for MDE.
Does anyone know if you can opt to just get off the bus at the first resort to take a bus to a theme park? Must you arrive at your hotel?

Unless you wanted to take your carry on luggage to the park with you, I don't think you'd accomplish much by getting off at the first resort you came to. And I'm not sure that's even a possibility.

I'm not sure I'd try to go to a park if I got there that late. I wonder if there is a second show that night. That might be easier to make on time if it's available.

Thanks everyone, we do have FP, and we have AP's so we wouldn't be burning a park day...but I think it's probably better that we don't push it, I made a 8:30 reservation at Sanna so we can get some bread service and a couple of appetizers and some cocktails...probably a more relaxing start for our vacation since I have to work that morning then all the traveling!

I think you'll be fine if your flight is on time & you don't stop to check in/unpack first. Just have DME handle your bags & go straight to AK upon arrival.

We stayed at AKL last weekend, arriving by plane on Thursday at 6:30pm, & used DME to get to AKL. Then we immediately took a cab to Disney Springs & were there to pick up our La Nouba tickets (for the 9pm show) before 8:15pm. We had time to spare. You should definitely get FastPasses, though.
