Timing Question-Boma

We're nearing our day to book our flights to/from Disney. DH really wants to go to Boma for breakfast so I'm just looking at our options as we are only coming to Disney for 2.5 days.

In the chance that we are able to squeeze in Boma breakfast on our departure day...what's the earliest flight that would be safe to book?

e.g. Let's say we could book Boma for opening time at 7:30am. We are staying at Pop so when done (at 9 or 9:30?), we'd uber/taxi back to the resort (whatever is quickest method), checkout, grab our bags and head to MCO airport. Would say a flight at 12pm be ok? 1pm? We are flying back to Ontario Canada if that makes a difference for international flight.

I know it's a specific question but just looking at our options without sacrificing park time.
Thanks.

If your ADR at BOMA is 7:30, you should be done by 8:30, but use 9 in case of waits.
Uber back, check out by 9:30.
Arrive at the airport, drop off car if rented, at 10.
Go through security (assuming you checked your bags at the resort). Could be 10-60 minutes.
To be safe, I wouldn't book the flight before noon. maybe 12:30 in case of delays.

I have done Boma several times on my departure day. We usually try to book a later afternoon flight. That way we can enjoy a leisurely breakfast and have time to walk around the hotel grounds looking at animals and my kids love the gift store at that hotel in particular.

Yeah, noon is too close. Unless you rideshare to Boma with your luggage, then rideshare directly to the airport. Otherwise, no earlier than 2.

I was thinkinging this. Are you going to be all packed before you leave for breakfast? If yes, you could take Uber/Lyft to Boma with your luggage. Leave luggage with Bell Services at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Uber/Lyft from Animal Kingdom Lodge to the airport. You don't need to "check out" of the hotel; you just leave.

Thank you so much for the replies. Gives me an idea as I have no idea how long to leave for breakfast (and with barring delays in getting seated) and then travel time. We are not planning on renting a car so everything would be uber or taxi.

Unless an afternoon flight, we would be all packed up. What is rideshare?

Most likely it won't work as we'll book flights depending on price (and school starts next day so won't want an evening flight)....but just to keep in mind incase we have an option between two flight times.

This is an interesting option if we want to go right from Boma to the airport.

If you have an ADR time right at opening - Boma is a buffet - so for most folks - an hour is sufficient for the meal. 1.5 hours for those who like to linger. First ADR time in the morning - and there won't be more than the initial wave of seating delay. HOWEVER - AKL is also a great resort to look around at - and you might see the savanna, take pictures in the lobby, visit the gift shop. Frankly, I'd just use Disney transportation for all of this - and book a mid-afternoon flight.

Might be a bit tight as we were staying at AKL with a Boma ADR @ 7:30, got seated right away and had a flight @ 12:15 that day, the DME bus was there and we walked out at 8:15 and the bus left right at 830. Rideshare etc FROM AKL might actually work but will be tight as security at the airport is unpredictable, but a great idea. On a side note the week we were at Disney, last week of Aug this year, we ate at Boma 3 times for breakfast and the place was NEVER full, there were PLENTY of open tables throughout the restaurant.

Immediate question that springs to my mind--are you using DME or are you planning to take a taxi or rideshare to the airport regardless of other plans? If you're using DME that locks you in to needing to be back at your own resort at the appointed time, which I believe will be 3 hours before your flight if you're traveling at a non-peak time of year or 4 if it's holiday season (I may be wrong about that). My preference is to take DME since they seem to judge the needed lead time pretty well, but I've always been someone who errs on the side of showing up early at the airport. If you're comfortable with giving yourself less time to get through security, though, you can shave some time off that by taking a rideshare directly from AKL to the airport as someone else suggested. That's what I'd do in this situation if I weren't using DME.

Personally, I wouldn't book a flight any earlier than 2:00 if I were doing this. It's easier to find pleasant ways to fill an extra hour (wandering AKL, shopping at either AKL or your own resort, etc.) than to keep to a very tight schedule when there's a dining reservation involved.

Thank you all. Wasn't sure if my question was odd or out to lunch (or breakfast...lol), but got some great feedback. Very helpful.

I remembered that when we went to Disney 5 years ago, we had done Chef Mickey's on the day that we were leaving. I was able to dig up our ADR and found our flight time. We had 8:30am booking and 2:10pm flight home (with a car rental for that trip), so sounds similar flight time to what you are all suggesting. Fingers crossed we can book similar and make Boma breakfast work. (Only downside is we are stretching this trip with returning the day before our kids start first day of school....and flight is 3hrs for us)

...

Lol...DH would totally go to Boma every breakfast.
This is the same timing as we're planning for upcoming summer, us so good to hear it wasn't busy. On a side note, were you affected by Hurricane Dorian? That's a chance for that time of year.

I'd do 1p at the earliest. This way you don't have to rush through breakfast or worry about traffic.

I agree that breakfast buffet was so good, those scrambled eggs with the goat cheese, were so good. The restaurant is rather huge IMHO and at 730am even till 830 one one AM we stayed it was never crazy busy. As far as Dorian, it was the talk of the week as it was supposed to "hit" Friday then Sunday then Wed, so no it never really affected our vacation other then watching the local news for updates.....

Thanks for the feedback. Boma does seem like one that gets mentioned a lot, and great to hear it wasn't busy so more pleasant getting the food at the buffet (and short wait for table).
Great to hear you weren't affected by Dorian. That probably helped with crowds too.
