We will do at least one character meal while at Disney, and since we love breakfast Im leaning towards that meal. Im trying to decide between Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys. Im not sure about the timing. Do we book before the park opens, or book as late as possible and treat it as an early lunch. I dont want to miss rope drop. What is the latest you can book for breakfast and will the selection of food be as good, will we be rushed? And what about the logisitcs of getting to Chef Mickeys from All Star resorts before park opening?:confused3

I can't speak for the 2 restaurants you mentioned, but you may also want to consider Cape May. You can eat and then walk out the back door and right into Epcot. They have a private entrance for coming from that BCV. We did that this January and it was wonderful.

The buses run early enough for you to make those early reservations. You can just take the bus to MK and walk over to the Contemporary Resort for Chef Mickey.

We ate at both breakfasts on our trip in December and much prefered the food and atmosphere at Crystal Palace over Chef Mickeys. If you want to see Pooh and his friends it's great. My advice for getting done before rope drop: get your check settled as early as possible, especially if you are on a dining plan. It took atleast 10-15 minutes for our waiter to bring the original check, take our dining card and apply it, take our credit card to apply towards the tip and get everything signed and out the door. It took atleast 3-4 trips to get it taken care of, and of course, we weren't his only table. We had 8:15am ADR's but were seated right at opening because we checked in right away. We finished and were out of the restaurant by 9:10am and on Dumbo a little later with only a 10 minute wait. Not too bad considering we missed rope drop, but eating at CP, you're already half way there to most of the rides in Fantasy/Adventure/or Frontier Land.

You also can't beat being in Magic Kingdom before the crowds get there. The pictures of Cinderella's Castle with nobody standing in front of it is wonderful. It's also quite peaceful walking to the restaurant with so few people around.

One more bit of info. You cannot get through the gates at Magic Kingdom until 7:45am (others day 7:50am, but my DH's watch read 7:45am). You can get through security and wait in the breakfast waiting lines at the gates on the far right hand side of the park entrance. But, no matter how early you get there (we arrived around 7:20am), you won't be let into the park until 7:45am. The lines were kind of long, but not bad. We were about the 6th or 7th family in our line so it only took a few minutes of waiting once the gates had been opened. Also, buses begin running to Magic Kingdom around 6:30am (some claim earlier) but they don't come as frequently as the normal schedule buses.

Hope this info helps. Enjoy your trip!

I think the last breakfast reservation is 10:45 AM. We like to schedule that one and use it as our lunch/ park break time. That way, we eat in hotel room, get in at rope drop, and then break for lunch and character time. As for your car, take the bus over to CM and either walk to CR (15 minutes) or monorail from MK to CR.

As for the car, I know you can park at MK and walk/ monorail over to CR, but am not sure you can park at CR without paying a parking fee since you are not staying at that resort.

I like park opening breakfasts (we are doing a lot in May). Getting an early reservation at CP (8:05) and walking through an empty Main Street is AWESOME!!! We had an 8:10 and was out about 9AM. The breakfast is really yummy! We liked Chef Mickey's for breakfast, but I think your chances of getting to rope drop for an early breakfast is slim unless it's like 7 AM, which I would definitely not want to do. I don't like to leave MK so early so I wouldn't do a late breakfast. I think that is wasted park time.

We've done both, and both have advantages. We like 8am for 9am RD, but you are FULL. It's great at AK to be right at the safari when you finish.

In MK, we loved our 10:30 CP ADR. The place was thinning out, the characters were hilarious. We grabbed a little something on our way out the door to keep blood sugar levels up, hit the park at RD, toured for 2 1/2 hours, then a leisurely brunch that definitely held us until dinner!
