Timing of Buying Tix

So it's official! We have booked airfare to Orlando for Nov for our first trip to the dark side. Yay! Staying at RPR. Question about when to buy tix though. I priced out straight thru Uni and also UT. Right now with the 2 days and a 3rd free UT is $80 less total for our family of 5. I'm not sure if that is a good savings or if I should wait. Do prices fluctuate a lot on tix? Is there a time of year when they typically raise prices that I should watch out for (like Disney)?

I purchased our tickets almost two months ago and we go in December. I did online chat with a person from UT and they told me they never know when the buy 2 days get one free will end. She stated that it could end at anytime. So right there I decided to buy. Like you, we are also a family of five. Because we are staying a full week, during our first visit in the park, (you have to be in the park to do this) we are upgrading our 3 day tickets to the Annual Powerpass. From what I understand, it will only cost around $10 more each to do this. This way we can come and go as we please for the whole time we are there. There are blackout dates using the PowerPass, but we are visiting at the beginning of December, so no problem. Maybe we might be able to sneak another visit to Universal next year before the pass expires! Ticket prices vary, but found UT to be the cheapest. They also mail them to your home free!

Also another tip. Since there are 5 of you, I priced it out, and it is way cheaper staying Club Level at RPR than going to get breakfast, lunch and dinner for all of us each day. It's usually around $100 more a day for club, but well worth it for that many people. If there were only 2 or 3 people, not so much...just something to consider. We will go out for lunch each day to enjoy the different restaurants. :)

If your workplace participates in ticketsatwork.com, they have a buy 2 days get 2 days free offer.

I usually go with UT but I don't think I can pass up the b2g2 deal. Although, unlike UT, taxes and shipping are not included in the purchase price.

An omnivore might be able to get by with the evening offerings and call it dinner, but if you can't have the hot dish for whatever reason don't expect that to be an adequate dinner. Though I'm not actually sure they intend it to be actual dinner. :) And a bigger eater is not going to be satisfied.

When we are on holidays we usually have a later lunch, the biggest meal of the day. We then eat lighter for dinner. The lounge offerings are perfect for us, but I do realize that isn't the case for everyone. My boys aren't picky eaters, but if others are, it may not work as well. :)

I guess my question was more of whether or not these deals were typical or if I was likely to get a better deal if I waited until closer to Nov.

i totally understand now.
you might be waiting in case of one of the 3rd party vendors has a special package ticket to sell

what you see now is pretty standard.
the specials of some places of buy a 2 day p2p pass and get 1 (or 2) days free, are still around.

they would be a nice deal for you as long as they don't have an expiration date until after you have had your trip.
it's great to find a sweet day and get park tickets for a price you can live with.

for the club lounge, which i have booked before, has a great breakfast set up.
for a family of 5, well worth it

nothing is out after the breakfast period closes at 10:00

for that time and until the "dinner" hour begins, the lounge will have soda, water, tea, etc out all day long.
snacks change at different time periods and for the different deluxe club lounges.

i think last time it had crustables, chips, snack type of munchies out in the lunch time and afternoon.

the evening set up is decent for doing apps and the desserts.

a family of 5 can save plenty $$ by using the water bottles, soda from the club lounge to take with them back to their rooms.
also make sure to take a few water bottles with you to the parks to avoid buying them there.

For lunch each day we are trying the different restaurants all around Universal. So many to choose from. That will be our one main meal for the day. The club offerings are perfect little fillers for the rest of the day. The water to take to the parks is a big bonus.

you know, that is my intent each trip to the darkside to try every place there for eating.

but, i get to having favorite places and still have missed visiting some places.

i have 30 meals to do on the next trip and will end up missing some i should try out.

i don't plan it in advance and when i get hungry, i sometimes go to the closest place that i have been to before and enjoyed.

have not hit the bread box yet or pat o'briens.
i have done two at pbh but limited with my mushroom allergy.

some of the places in City Walk i still miss.
Motown was one of my regular places to eat lunch back in those days before bubba gump came on the scene.
