Anyone ever done the timeshare tour at Wyndham Bonnet Creek to get the good deal on a few nights? Worth it?

What are they offering you? I've found the offers there rather poor, like a $100 AMEX gift card. I don't let the pitch get far, so maybe they will offer up more.

I would not recommend anyone submit themselves to a high-pressure sales pitch. Many people have made big financial mistakes buying from the developer.

WBC is a beautiful resort built by thousands of people who "just wanted to get a good deal for a few nights."

I second the recommendation to browse Tug's forums for more info about timeshare sales tours. Wyndham is pretty high pressure, as they go. We LOVE the resort itself but the sales pitch at most Wyndham resorts is pretty aggressive. Personally, I never recommend to our friends or family that they attend, but look for other ways to save money on a trip or in their general budgeting and saving up for a trip.

Be super-prepared, if you decide to do it and don't overestimate your ability to Just Say No, while keeping a positive attitude and mood afterward. A lot people are surprised at how badly the experience affects their day. My vote is, NOT WORTH IT during your precious vacation time with your family.

I'll throw in a bit of calculus here too. Let's say you are going for a one-week vacation, which is effectively 6 days when you lop off time travel. Say that your total vacation budget is a conservative $4,000 for your crew. That is roughly $670 dollars per day of fun. (Fill in your own numbers here)

Now, a timeshare presentation will knock a half-day off your fun time. I know they say it is only an hour, but by the time you get to presentation, eat the cold breakfast, talk to the sales guy for an hour, spend another hour actually getting them to release you from the presentation centre so you can get your comps, transport to the park you want to tour, it WILL be noon or later. So the cost of that presentation is about $335 to break even, but there is also the cost of lost fun experiences to consider as well; you're also losing a big chunk of time when you could be doing something better. Most people do leave in a bad mood as @Lisa P. says, so the rest of your day may be clouded too. To be safe, I would want the savings to be at least the cost of one day's vacation.

So calculate out what this 'savings' may really cost you before you decide to go to a presentation. Usually, (almost always), it doesn't make sense to us, but sometimes the offer can be sweet enough. Our last presentation was in Mexico where our time touring an ultra-lux golf resort (miles above our pay grade - saying no was easy) was compensated by them covering our SUV rental for the week and a free sunset dinner cruise (which was a wonderful experience, making up for the lost morning). The tour itself was very 'lifestyles of the rich and famous' and included watching whales breach from the balcony of the penthouse suite! This was a very unicorn experience though; I wouldn't expect that kind of experience at WBC. Maybe 'lifestyles of the sunburnt and mouse addicted.'

No. Don't do it. If you are just trying to save money, find an alternative and don't put yourself through that.

Look at all timeshares. We've been DVC since 1996 and own multiple contracts (OKWE, OKW, SSR, AKV, HHI and VBR) AND bought WBC recently. I bid on about 10 contracts before I got the deal I wanted. We looked at Marriott and Hilton and haven't ruled either out for more options.

We paid $1400 for two weeks a year in a 1 BR. The seller paid 2022 points so our net was $200 and I worked with this broker before. There are several threads on disboards about WBC and TUGG has lots of good information. Whatever you do, do your homework.

Good luck!
