Friends are using their timeshare to get a Disney Villa in July -- can they get the DDP (previously they stayed timeshare at the Marriott Cypress Resort near DTD, but this year their program says they can stay at Disney resorts -- I think Boardwalk, but don't have all the detail...only know for sure it actually is a Disney Villa this time.)

Yes they can add any of the dining plans up to 72 hours before arrival - the difference with DVC time shares adding the dining plan is they must pay for it upon arrival - with staying in an onsite resort you have to be on a package to get the DP - and packages must be paid 45 days in advance -

so I start saving disney dollars - and when we check in, I have the cash on hand for the dining plan! (and like with the resorts DVC also must purchase the dining plan for each person on their rservation for each night of their reservation - so some DVC members that have long stays break up their stays - ie book 2 reservations - and they are not guaranteed staying in the same room)

also they may want to be aware that the BWV doesnt have a CS on site - its one of the huh? things - there is a marketplace that you can purchase some food items, and some of those food items are on the DDP snack - but no CS items - the Bakery is where they can use their refillable mugs (as well as at the pool when the pool bar is open they have soda there as well)

Bakery has some CS options for breakfast and Spoodles has a take out pizza window...

Granted, I haven't done this with a DVC resort, but in general, whenever I've made a timeshare exchange for another resort, for most resort-related purposes I am considered a member of the resort I'm visiting for that stay.

By that logic, an II (for past reservations) or RCI (for current) member exchanging into a DVC resort should be treated just as if they were a DVC member staying on points. So, they should (again, this is by logic only, not by any knowledge or experience with policies) be able to add any of the DDPs. They wouldn't (by the same logic) qualify for things like AP discounts, since they're not actually a DVC member.

The DVC Mouselanous board has a thread discussing the time share transfers - and you are correct - I think it seems similiar to "renters" - as a renter I would be treated as a "member" and when I check in my keys to the kingdom card does say dvc on it...(as a renter) meaning the computer system when checking in to a dvc resort doesnt distinguish renters, RCI, II,

so you do have access to the Disney Dining Plans, and you have to request it 72 hours prior to checking in and you have to pay for it at check in...

I traded into BW in September through II and paid a $95 resort services fee. This fee allows you to use DVC member services to make all reservations and you CAN add the DDP to the reservation. You just have to do it up to 3 days before arrival. It cannot be added when you get there.

When we found out II was being dropped, I booked 2 more DVC's before the switch. WL in May and BCV in August for my son's 5th BD.

We already added the DDP to May and made all of our ADR's. We will definately do DDP in August too!
