For first timer, roughly how long does it take to get from MK to Epcot?
basically if anyone has a link or info on travel time between the different parks also possible from all star sports to the other parks it would be greatly appreciated

I'm sure someone has a very detailed list of things but I usually plan an hour for travel time no matter from where to where.

For Magic Kingdom to Epcot, you will need to take the monorail from the Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center. If you have to wait the full length of a monorail, it could be twenty minutes before you even board that monorail. Then, at the Transportation and Ticket Center, you need to transfer to an Epcot monorail and if you have to wait a full cycle, it could be another twenty minutes until you board that monorail.

Or, you could take the ferry boat from Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center and then the monorail from there, again with the wait times at the max.

Or, you could get on a bus from the Magic Kingdom to any of the Epcot resorts (Yacht/Beach Club, Dolphin/Swan, Boardwalk) and then walk from there to the International Gateway and enter Epcot or take a Friendship Boat to the International Gateway. Same wait times as usual.

You said you are a first timer so I'm pointing out that there are many different ways to use Disney transportation to get from point A to point B and that's why I use an hour as a guide.

darn i figured it might be long but i was hoping it wouldnt be it seems like all the great restaurants are at epcot but not worth taking so much time to hop back just for dinner

Probably not worth going to Epcot if you are going back to MK but it might be worth going to one of the monorail hotels for a meal and then back to MK.

The link above is notoriously incorrect.

For a first-timer, buy the Unofficial guide book. It has a table that shows average transit times from each park and resort.

I use the WDW Transportation Wizard. I think they have an app too. Their times are sometimes off depending on how crowded it is, but at least you'll get a good rough estimate, plus a list of transportation options.

Please keep in mind that this will sometimes suggest routes that don't exist. I don't recommend it for anyone who isn't already very familiar with WDW transportation.

I would never hop to another park to eat if your plan is to hop back. Either eat at the park or a close by resort.

I have completed my day at one park then hopped to EPCOT to eat dinner since they have so much but with no plan to go back to the other park. Booking later dinners works well in this instance.

Hmm, I've never found it to be way off other than some of the times are wrong (which is understandable because it doesn't really break down by time of day, crowd level, etc), and as someone else said, every so often it gives a route that doesn't exist or doesn't make much sense (but I only encountered that 1-2 times in my use). When I was planning my first trip, I basically used it to get an idea of the general length and mode of travel.

I've never used the Unofficial guide, but if they have a table that's correct, then yeah, I suppose that's better for a first timer.

But it's what you think about it. If you are thinking "darn, I have to make this dining reservation and I have to be there by X time so I have to do this and do that and then this", you won't have a good time. But, if you think, I have this great dining reservation so we can take the monorail (or boat or whatever) over to Epcot and I'm going to make sure we have plenty of time to do that and if we are early, we can just stroll around World Showcase and take in the sights!", then you will have a good time.
