Just wondering if my son will be available to spend time with us during his first week? I'm thinking dinners together? Possible?

I want to make some reservations for dinner's and don't know if I should include my son. My husband and I will be there for the week, and I'm just wondering what kind of time on his own my son will have?

His check in date is Monday, January 10th. Also, will Traditions be the very next day? And when will training start after Traditions? Will he get all the scheduling for these on check in day? Time and place and when to be at the bus stop, etc....

Thanks,!

According to the site, the first day after check in is normally free, he won't attend traditions until day 3 and then training the days after that. traditions is only a 4 hour thing or so, so he would be free most of that day too, and training... I don't know how long training will be, this is my first program (Custodial), and according to my letter I think I'll have 3 days of training before I"m done.

Hope this helps :goodvibes

I am not sure how it will work in January but I can tell you how it was when we arrived.

Her check in day was Wednesday, September 1st. Her traditions was on Friday, September 3rd and her first day of training was Saturday September 4th. She then did not work that Sunday or Monday and her first day at her location was Tuesday. Now several of the people she met had the same check in day and traditions day but then it varied from there.

Both Friday and Saturday she was able to join us for dinner since she was finished on Friday and Saturday before dinner. She had an afternoon traditions class so she did not finish until around 5ish. Saturday her training was during the day which is why she was able to join us for dinner. Some people did have training later in the evening.

I would suggest to go ahead and make the reservations and include them, you can also update the reservations if he cannot make the dinner time or possibly change the time once you have his schedule for that week.

thank you. anyone out there previously check in on a monday in january?
is traditions still on day 3? that would be great to have him to ourselves on tuesday to do the food shopping and pick up any items he'll need, and hit the parks and have dinner!

thanks again!

I'm sure it varies depending on the role, but he should have some free time those first few days. My DD checked in on a Thursday last January and I'm pretty sure had Traditions on Friday, then didn't start training until Monday. Some of her roommates started training on Saturday or Sunday, though.

Yes, she found out her training schedule when she found out her role on check-in day.

I checked in on a Monday in January for the spring 2010 program. Monday was mostly spent doing the check in thing but I did eat dinner with my mom. It was late though. On Tuesday I went to a info session about classes at 12 and then was able to register for classes early. Other than that my day was free. I had Traditions on Wednesday. I was scheduled for the morning one so I was free after like noon I believe. I had Thursday off and I started Training on Friday. I didn't have my park walk through thing till after I was finished with my training but I know other people in my training group who were statused in a different park who did their park walk through the Thursday before training. And in case your wondering my training lasted from Friday till Tuesday. Training length is different for different roles, but that is what training is for performers and attendants.

As a current CP/PI I can say that the first week is the best time, if any, to stay and visit. The initial check in day is completely full of activities, but the day after is spent allowing the new Cast Members to move in and become acclimated with the area. The following day is "Traditions," the half day class introducing the new CP's to the culture and lifestyle that is Disney. Depending on what role you are assigned, training can range from two days to two weeks, during that time they have a pretty standard 8am-5pm schedule.

Hope this helps
