Time to Walk?

You can begin a walk anytime. However, if you are trying to secure your room since it’s a hard to get one, then the closer you are to the 8 am window when it opens, the better chance you have.

However, I think that in many cases, especially at the 11 month mark, there are not many types of rooms that need walking.

If you’re walking at 11 months, then it doesn’t matter. If you’re walking at 7 months, then 8 AM Eastern Time.

Thank you. I should have been more detailed. I was wondering more about modifying a room, not securing a room. And yes, at 11 months out. So I take it you can modify any time of the day up until midnight of 11 months out from the last night you have booked? Of can you go all the way until 8 a.m. the next day (which I wouldn't even try, by the way)? I hope this makes sense.

Modifyng a reservation to pick up a day can be done at any time providing the day you want to pick up is within 11 months plus 6 nights since you can book 7 nights right at the 11 month mark

So, if you book say Sunday to Thursday at 11 months. You can modify to pick up Friday on Monday, etc.

8 am starts the 11 month window for all new dates. So it will always be 11 plus the 6
That doesn’t grab a new date till 8 am. So if you book at 10 am or 3 am the next dayy, you will be able to get only the same nights

To say it another way -

If you are walking at 11 months, you only need to modify a day before the 11 month window opens for the night you want to add. You can do it more often, but it really isn't necessary.

The only thing that could get in your way is if DVC takes some of the villas you want out of inventory for planned maintenance. It's a very rare occurrence for that to happen before the 11 month booking window even opens.

This is what I'm wondering. So you need to do it before midnight? Or can it be done up until 8 a.m. the next morning (before the window opens)? Not that I plan to do that, but just wondering in case I were to ever forget.

You can walk up to 7:59 AM the next morning but...you could run into a kerfuffle like last Thursday and this morning where the website was down from at least 6 AM until late morning. So you definitely run a risk in putting it off until the last minute. In fact, if I were walking at 11 months, I would do it two days in advance instead of waiting until the last day.

Oh, definitely! I actually do it every day just because I like to see it move. But sometimes things get crazy, so I was wondering about how it worked with modifying at the last minute.
