Time to volunteer

Today I was going to assist a wonderful lady at the National Guard Armory . She is going to be in charge of the little people while their parents and guardians go thru debriefing. SOme of these people are going to be gone for a while......I came down with a wicked head cold yesterday and if I went I would be spreading alot of good germs all over the place.... SOOOOOOOOOOOO if you have a chance to help out in any part of the service organizations.....or thru ANY organizations...please do it.....call your local associations and ask......DO YOU NEED me.....it maybe a few hours or an afternoon......but please go and try to help......your volunteerism would be greatly appreciated......

Volunteering is so critical. It is so thing that benefits everyone. Many organizations can only achieve their mission through volunteers. Volunteers also achieve benefits.

we have coats for kids in Maine.......they recieved over 25,000 coats last year .....I believe that was the total......and a dry cleaner volunteers their time and cleans and fixes them up......this is another way of helping others thru this giving time of the year.........alot of states are doing this......

ones that cannot make it to a family or are alone on the Holidays.......this is a nice way of making sure someone has a touch of the holidays too

Excellent suggestions, Marie. I just made a sizeable donation to our local food bank. I hadn't thought about volunteering help to our military, good idea!

Hello my dear friend Marie,

You need to take care of YOU and get better. Trust me, there will be many other opportunities to assist our soldiers being deployed and their families. Your kind heart offered to be there, assisted our organization in lining up volunteers, and what more could you do? These things happen. Turns out, God meant for you to be home tonight anyway didn't he?? You were there in thought.

For anyone out there interested, each branch of the service has a "Family Readiness Program." If you call anyone at the closest armory to you, they can give you the name of the Family Program Coordinator in your area. I am SURE they would put you to work and appreciate your help.
