Time to visit

We haven't been to DLR in MANY years and are now going to pay a visit.

So...first things first, time of year to visit.
I'm thinking fall.
Looking for nice weather (but cool is okay....just not too much rain, please ), low crowds.

So that should get us started

Great to see you hear on the DL board!

I really like fall a lot. We usually go to DL in either late September or early October, and that works fine for us. The downsides are shorter hours, reduction in shows like fireworks and Fantasmic, and lots of things being refurbished.

The weather has always been pretty good, not too hot, not too cold. Maybe a light jacket for night time.

Also, if you stay onsite, it's value season.

We've done January, May, and November.

Of those, my favorite was November, though we *really* lucked out because the week/end we were there, it wasn't very crowded, but both the weekend before we arrived and the weekend after we left were said to be packed.

I'm tending to lean toward early Nov. (after Halloween dies down).
Does that sound like a good pick?

I'm really looking forward to this. It has been years since we've bee (Naughty west-coaster that I am)

I want to stay onsight if I can get a good rate.
I need to study this. I know things work so differently than WDW.

Yes, good rates are harder to come by at DL, at least in advance. I've seen some pretty good rates on sites like Expedia and Travelocity if you're booking "last minute" though.

I'm not a fan of WDW packages since they don't seem to be worth it, but with DL packages, you at least break even or maybe even come out ahead. Also, the Fall Getaway packages are really good. Last year (and I think this year too), you would get the 4th night free if you paid for 3 nights. Same with park passes, 4 day hopper for the price of 3. I booked thru DU and they were great. Wouldn't hurt to get a quote from them, though they probably won't have any discounts yet. At least you would have a base to start from, then you could work your price down from there.

Also, a big plug for GC, I stayed there last year and LOVED it!!! (I'm a big fan of WL at WDW.)

I have heard nothing but good things about GC! I would love to stay there is I can swing it.
I got the booklet from AAA, so I have a base to start at.
I will keep a look out.
