Time to do laundry

We are staying off site but will have access to laundry facilities. I don't know where it is located, or whether it is in a sociable place ie, close to the pool etc. Although I will have to do laundry whilst there I don't want to be missing out and doing the domestic bit. How long does it take to do say 2 loads of washing (hopefully simultaneously) and dry the same amount of clothes?

I stayed at All Star Sports and used their laundry. It took about 30 minutes to wash. The drying took at least 30 minutes but I found that I needed to split one load of washing between 2 or more dryers for best results.

I took Persil tablets and a few dryer conditioner sheets with me in a plastic bag as my son has eczema and I like to stick with products I've tried before.

This year I did the washing before breakfast and had the laundrette to myself. I was also quite happy to leave my stuff washing away whilst we had breakfast at the food court.

I hope this helps.

I've used off-site laundry facilities as well as on-site and they've all been just pretty much the same.

As Libby says, it takes about half an hour for a wash cycle and the driers seem to operate in cyles of about half an hour, but you can choose different temperature settings so the load may be more or less dry depending on the load and the temperature.

I can't say the laundry has been the highlight of my trips to Florida ;), but it's certainly a fairly painless exercise if you have to do it!

Oh don't we ust LOVE the laundry;)

It always seem to be that US washing machines are very quick, but the dryers seem to take forever.

This year I gave up trying to dry our stuff as the dryer seemed to be eating quarters. I put in on the chairs and table on our secluded balcony and the little bits over the bath while we were out one day and it was mainly all dry when we got back.

The only consolation was there was a "beside the pool party" going on for some convention guests with live music - the laundry at the hotel was right next to the pool so I sat outside singing along.

Sing-alonga-laundry . . . now there's an idea that I don't think would take off over here:p

Elaine, got to agree with the 'half hour wash then half hour to dry' lobby- and the 'split yer load between two dryers if yer've a lot' advice too.

We found we could 'use' the hour best at night as we chilled by the pool -hope yours is within walkin distance- or I'd put a load in when I first got up as V and the kids are a tad difficult to raise in the mornin, so at least I got summat done with the first part of the day (doesn't that make uz sound dead domesticated!).

Best tip we'd pass on is defo get yer washin and dryin done a day or two afore yer come home. V loves comin home to just the ironin rather than washin and hangin out while jet-lagged (I, of course, have returned to me alpha-male rejection of all things domestic by then!)

Laundry? It's one of the best bits of the holider isn't it?

Not sure about the wash before you come home as we left Orlando just after a storm. Our luggage must have been out in it as all our clothes were damp. The rain must have seeped in through the zip. Luckily I'd left all our souvenirs in plastic bags and they were fine.

PS I find it takes 2 or 3 washes to get rid of the smell of suncream from our clothes. I must admit I've shed a tear or two when the smell hits me again once I'm home.
