Hey all, we are now officially half way through the year and it's time to back up your photos and gear up for the holidays.

As many of you know I was having issues with my laptop a few weeks ago, so far so good. Knock on wood. But I did manage to back my whole hard drive up.

So break out those CDs, DVDs, and hard drives!

WE are currently doing this.. well, DH is...but he isn't labelling the items right and I'm having to open all the CDs and label them correctly..

I think he back up the hard drive over the weekend but I better inquire tonight...

We back up to an external HD every Sunday, but I'm thinking about getting an online account on Smugmug or something, for extra security.

We pay for external backup...the whole system is backed up every night!:thumbsup2

good deal Dyan! I think DH said something about Apple having a service to do this. He needs to look into it.

We have a ghost drive so everything should be safe (touch wood) but I also back up onto CM memorymanager regularly(ish) - its about that time again

I saw torchwood. I'm such a sci fi geek.
:rotfl2:

We have a mirror drive that saves everything that changes in a 24 hour period along with periodic back ups.

what are these? I am so computer illiterate. we have an external hard drive that i put my photos on but i don't know if i am doing it correctly or not. no way to check that i know of. i would be so devestated if i lost any of my photos and i have so many on the computer. i dont erase them once i put them on. ususally i just get my photos put on cd at walmart and then i only load them when ready to print them. i then go back to walmart. have not figured out the online thing yet either. sorry babbling :goodvibes lots of energy today even though was up till 4am cleaning :confused3

They have a service- my mother uses it for her files and such (She is an author). She loves it and says it is not only very easy but her backup is avaiable from anywhere since she can reach it online. She was visiting me and needed something and it just took her a few minutes to get it.

I just had to reinstall windows on my VERY sick laptop last month!
Luckily I *think* I got everything off of it I needed!
I generally burn ALL my pics to disc by month!

I would die if I ever lost photos!

Thanks for the reminder! My computer went down a few weeks ago and I was crying over the pictures. The magically it started again, I ran and bought an external hard drive and started copying like a mad woman! I need to back up the new pictures I just put on the computer.

::yes:: Mine started making this god awful racket a few weeks ago, so bad that DH could hear it over the phone. He said it sounded like a bearing. So I just copied the entire HD over, it got so hot I sat here instead of going to bed in case it caught on fire. Now it runs like a dream, go figure!

Yikes! DH wants me to get those last pictures copied so he can wipe the entire thing and reinstall. Then he can install my new camera software too.
