My daughter and her relatively new husband want to stay on a harbor hotel/motel, but need a nice place, may have breakfast, short walk, but do not have the money to pay full tilt for the room now...so what do you all suggest. 7/30-8/4.

Most the motels are nice & pretty equal in what they offer. The Carousel Inn has nice rooms & a good breakfast set up. I've heard that the BW Park Place Inn offers a nice breakfast & evening snack (I believe it was here that did both). Most places will let you make the reservation without paying for it at this point. Some of them run specials on their website......I'm not sure if you have to pay in full on the website or not. If they're wanting to pay a little at time for their trip....they could always look at booking a package. I know Disney Travel will let you put a down payment down & then the package needs to be paid off a month prior to your trip. I find this a nice way to pay for as much as I can ahead of time but not needing a huge chunk of change all at once.

Good luck!!

We've been happy with stays at BWPPI, DI&S and Hojo's. BWPPI and DI&S have awesome locations and free cold breakfasts. Both charge for parking. Hojo's is a slightly longer walk, though very do-able, awesome beds and nicer grounds if thats of any importance. Plus free parking!

I wouldn't hesitate to stay at any of them and now for our trips I just choose from those based on their rates at the time.
DI&S most often is the cheapest for us when booking well in advance.

We have stayed at Camelot, and wouldn't recommend them now because of the management. Our last stay was at BWPPI, and it was clean, quiet , and had comfortable beds. They had a decent, not fancy, breakfast. I would stay here again. This summer we are staying at Park Vue Inn. They are the ones that offer a light dinner option each evening. Both BWPPI and Park Vue Inn are right at the crosswalk into Disneyland. So nice and close at the end of the evening!

We have been staying at the Ramada Maingate on Harbor for too many years to count. They have the free breakfast and one of the best pools on Harbor. You can make reservations on line and you do not have to put any $$ down. Great place, plenty of parking, Denny's is close by and only a very short walk to entrance to Disneyland.:love:

Candy Cane is slightly pricier but also a bit more cute for a young married couple. And they have the shuttle that runs every 30 minutes and it can be walked. If they want absolute closest then of course BWPPI. Tropicana feels more inviting than BWPPI and is the same distance almost. HoJos has lots of deals and the extra walking should be an issue for younger legs. i would choose one of those. :)

Hojo or Fairfield Inn are my top two best picks.

We are quite fond of Fairfield Inn! The rooms are pretty nice, the beds are comfy and we like the Disney decor throughout the hotel and rooms. There is no free breakfast, but Millie's is in the parking lot (super cheap breakfast!) and McDonald's is in the parking lot as well. Both really come in handy for a cheap meal. There is a parking fee at FFI, but you do not need to pay in full at the website, they charge your card upon check-out. *bonus..if you are a rewards member, they will contact you to see if you are celebrating a special occasion. Your daughter may want to suggest something special for the room! We ordered something for my daughter on our last trip! And for $15 they delivered a huge bouquet of pink and purple balloons, a bag of DLR princess candy and and autograph book and pen. We were floored! I have suggested this place to two families visiting DLR and both were very happy with their stays!
Hope they enjoy their trip!! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the suggestions and PM's. I had a close friend stay at The Fairfield during Thanksgiving.

Costco Ravel and getawaytoday let you make payments, though GAT charges a fee to do so.

Both of them sat down last night and made a spreadsheet with 8 hotels on Harbor with current rates, ammenities, walking distance, etc. I sent them some maps for better visuals and they go from there. Now if they track the +/- changes they can get a better idea.
Thanks for the suggestions. Have not stayed on Harbor in a few years.

I'd like to put my vote in here for Candy Cane Inn, too. Another hotel that has made a lot of changes for the better is Park Vue Inn. They have a breakfast AND an evening reception with food. However, their price has gone up quite a bit, too. It's literally ACROSS the street from the parks, though, and is a nice, clean, friendly place.

They might also want to look into a different area and look at the Anabella. I like that the walk is almost all through Disney property and you don't get the nitty-gritty of Harbor. Just cut across Katella to Disneyland Drive and then go through the GCH and into DTD. And the Anabella's prices are often REALLY low (check AAA, CA residence specials, and various other specials that are always going on.) For a young couple, the vibe here would be really fun and the rooms are nicely done.

I would vote for Candy Cane Inn too. If DH and I ever go for that much-talked-about-but-doesn't-seem-likely-to-happen-soon trip without kids, that's probably where I would choose to stay. We have stayed as a family three times in the past and really liked it. The only reason we haven't stayed in recent years is because we usually stay at Hojos these days because we often get good AP rates and find Hojos a good value for the amount of space we can get. I also wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hojos to a young couple if they can get a good price, choose a room in building 2, and don't mind breakfast not being provided.
