Time SW booking opens

Sadly my last 2 flights in SW have me convinced they are taking service hints from AirTran. :(

Eek!!! Oh no!!! :( I've always flown AirTran since for us they are always cheaper. But this time we wanted to switch it up and try it, especially having the free baggage paired up with DME it seemed like a good situation for us. I guess we just have to see what happens...

I got Baltimore to San Diego for 28,000 points over Easter weekend...not bad. I also have the companion pass so it will cover both my son and I. Can't wait to visit DL for the first time ever!!

Bought our flights as soon as they opened. They are now sold out in less than 2 hours!

Looked at the prices OUCH! over 300/person for nonstop Ohio to MCO. I think I will wait. I see most sales run around 130 each way to 99 if you are really lucky like the sale they just had.
I may be rolling the dice, but i will take my chances

I'm shocked that in less than 2 hours, the wanna get away fares were completely sold out for our days (day after Easter, returning following Monday, PVD-MCO). We paid a little over $800 for all three of us by buying as soon as they opened up, and now EACH ticket is more than $800 with the refundable and business class fares!

We are coming from Columbus and will be driving now! $1350 for the 4 of us. We have never paid more than $850 for flights on the first day they come out. :confused3

I bought our tickets to Jamaica when they opened this morning and paid $550/pp roundtrip. We have two weddings that we have to fly for next year so I decided to book and just take the credit if the flights go down, knowing I will use them. I called my friend who's going with us at 8:30 and she checked - - same flights were $487 EACH WAY! She's waiting and hoping for a sale.

This trip we are flying into TPA but returning home via MCO. I wasn't too excited about the prices I saw this morning. I bit the bullet and bought our TPA leg since it is in the middle of Easter vacation week and I really don't think the prices are going to get much lower. On the other hand, the MCO leg was really high considering that we are flying out of MCO the weekend of May 3/4, well after the Spring Break crowd leaves :confused3. I will wait and see if there is a better deal.

Thanks for the help on what time to book. I got online at 7 am and everything was open. One daughter got Phoenix to Islip Palm Sunday weekend for her sister's wedding and the other daughter got Islip to Orlando for her honeymoon (guess where they are going!). I appreciate the help.

Tried booking a one way from MCO to PIT (we booked the first part of the trip last day they opened flights) and it was $167pp. That's a bit high for me... did anyone find good deals for PIT today?

IDK why I want to torment myself. LOL. I just wasn't able to book first thing this morning and was hoping I didn't miss something amazing :worried:

I did PIT to MCO today at $157. I bought for 4 reasons.

1- I had watched the specific flights I wanted (specific flight numbers that is) since July, I knew what their average was and what was too high. $157 was their baseline from what I can tell, and sometimes they spiked to $200ish. When I saw they were at their average I took them cause I've never seen them any lower than that. If by chance they drop dramatically, then I'll do a change and get credit.

2- Southwest and AirTran are the same company or will be the same company or whatever lol. AirTran would charge me $60 per person for the same amount baggage that I'm getting for "free" through Southwest. So I look at it $97 tickets and $60 baggage fees. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but that's how I see it and it makes me feel better, it's a mental thing. You can laugh and call me crazy if you'd like, it's ok my husband already does it. :)

3- Last year we paid $135 (which was the lowest we found) one way from PIT to TPA, so in comparison $157 wasn't bad for us for this year.

4- The times we got couldn't get better! First flight out to MCO, landing at 8:30am and the last flight home to PIT, landing at 11:45pm.

Of course your dates and times will throw off your figures and reasoning from mine, but I pulled the trigger cause it worked for us. Everyone's situation is different.

I booked my round trip flights from Manchester to Orlando at 6:30 this morning for $250, 2 hours later it was $94 more and now it is $194 more  This is why I always try to book as soon as the fares are released :tinker:
