One of my BFF's and I are going to NYC to see Harry Connick Jr this summer. We're staying in Time Square and would LOVE to know of some good places to eat for lunch/dinner. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

I love Harry Connick, Jr.! (Ooops I forgot to watch AI tonight). We just had dinner at Virgil's BBQ on Saturday and really enjoyed our meal there. We also really love 5 Napkin Burger for lunch which is on 9th & 45th.

My aunt swears by Carmine's (family style italian).

My sister and I love John's Pizzaria... great brick oven pizza in a beautiful setting.

These two are practically right next door to each other too. We loved them both!

Another vote for Carmine's. It's family style, great atmosphere, and it's on 44th, I believe, between 7th and 8th? Your concierge can direct you. :thumbsup2

I love Carmines but not with only two people. I don't like to go with less than 4, and preferably 5 or more. Family style isn't much fun if with two, although some people do it and just share one thing.

I've actually eaten at John's, and it was really good. Since I've only been in NYC for one night in recent years, that's a good co-incidence!

ps Jealous of seeing Harry Connick Jr. Love him.

Another plug for Virgil's BBQ. Get the hush puppies. :cloud9:

I would skip Ruby Foo's. To me it was just pricey chinese food that wasn't all that amazing. Just my 2 cents.

Crap, now I'm thinking BBQ for lunch. Good thing Virgil's is in walking distance!! :thumbsup2

My fave italian place in ALL of the world is Becco's on 46th b/w 8th and 9th. Their food is amazing, they have this great family style all you can eat homemade pasta - three different pasta dishes that waiters walk around the restaurant with and you can eat all you want of that with caesar's salad for about $20 pp and they have an amazing selection of $25 bottles of wine.

Another place to check out reviews and stuff is www.menupages.com

DH and I used that when we planned our wedding anniversary last year. We stayed in Times Square for the weekend (first time doing that since we usually take day trips there). The web site was very helpful to us.

Thanks for all the great ideas...LOVE them!!

Thanks for the website too, I enjoyed checking that out and I am SURE we will be using it!

We went to John's and LOVED it. Never had better pizza before or since.

I have to vote for Virgil's too because I just love their BBQ! My choices for lunch would be either "The Soup Kitchen" made famous by Seinfeld within walking distance, and/or The Carnegie Deli which is 12 blocks north, towards Central Park but totally worth it especially when it's nice out in the middle of the day.

Another vote for John's... it is in an old church, so it's big!

Also, if you are going for "tourist trap", lol, there is an ESPNZone in TS. Lots of fun!

John's Pizza on 44th is great and very reasonably priced. If you are looking for something more fancy and pricier, try Bobby Flay's Bar Americain. It's one of the best restaurants I have ever been to
