Time Share Next To Nothing??

We were given a bonus week from our in-laws. I was able to call the company and request several properties (6 Disney properties). It it a possibility that you could request to trade to just a regular room rather than the condo? I was thinking this would give us a better chance of staying on site....

I am pretty sure the trades into Disney are only good for DVC properties.

That was what I was afraid of I know that it is probably unrealistic to think that a DVC would come through for us.

what time frame are you looking for. it can be quite easy to trade in to disney depending on when. I did it 4 times this year.

We are members of Interval International and we were able to swap our Cape Cod week for a week at Saratoga Springs for this coming November. If you go on the Interval Website you can search for open DVC properties. The availability if very slim and it is generally a studio (although there is a 2 bedroom for the week of November 16th right now that I wish we could book).

We have a search going on for next year and hope something will open up. It is possible but the availability is very limited.

We are looking for the week of April 13th. My son is marching at MK on April 15th with his high school band. I don't care if they give us a studio as long as it hold 5/6 people. There are 5 of us in our family. Does a studio hold that many? Also, if you get a unit in Disney can you add the meal plan? We already have our passes to the park. Should I call Interval and ask for a studio?

1) No.
2) You can only trade II timeshares into DVC at Disney
3) That means DVC rooms (SSR, OKW, VWL, BWV, BCV, AKV).
4) And, that can be really tough, so grab anything when you can. *
5) Fortunately, there are lots of other Orlando timeshares to trade into.
6) My recommendations, if you can trade there
. . . RCI - Orange Lake CC and Resort
. . . II - Westgate Blue Tree or Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa

* Lots of II timeshare sale pitches nicely claim that you can trade into DVC. However, they do not mention how tough it can be.

April will probably be tuff to get as that is Easter week. Also, studios only hold 4 people max I believe. Maybe you should try searching something in Orlando (not Disney). I am sure you will have a easier time getting that (although as it is Easter week even that might not be possible).

I just went on II's website and for Easter week there is basically nothing. I think I found one studio but it would only hold 4 people - and these were not DVC - these were all other timeshares.

the bonus weeks generally are not for Easter (or any other holiday) weeks.

Maybe I said it incorrectly, I am not sure if it is a banked or bonus week. So far, I have all of the places on my list of choices.

I will certainly keep my fingers crossed. What a chance of a life time for my son. I really want to see him march in Disney. He has been coming to WDW since he was weeks old. He even gave up his pacifier to Mickey.

You will need a 2BR as the 1BR and studio only fit 4. You will have a very hard time getting a peak week like that.

How often should I call Interval?

and for the week you are looking for the only thing available is a studio and a one bedroom - and these are NOT Disney resorts. They are as example, Westgate, LikiTiki, Marriott. You might want to consider getting in touch with Disney to book a regular room.

The best thing to do would be to have Interval do a search and if something pops up they will either call you or send you an email. Searches like this I believe take preference on checking the website or calling. If something pops up they will contact you before they release it to other members.

Thank you so much. Yes, we are getting married in Disney - something I have always dreamed about. The time is getting closer and I just hope we have everything done in time.

would get a back up reservation - Pop is nice for a value resort - just in case this never happens.

FabFive: It is wonderful to watch your kids march at MK! We got to go and watch our DS and DNiece march in April 2007. It was so much fun! We ended up having 24 family members there to watch them and cheer them on. Make sure to have your director get the Photopass card and share the pictures with all of the families. They took pictures of each row of the band several times and also pictures of them coming down Main Street with the castle in the background. I love the pictures!! They are the ones that you wish you could get without waiting to get a spot on Main Street and they are in the middle of the street. They also offered us a DVD of their performance and some candid shots of them getting ready. It was about $35 and it is a nice keepsake.

We made matching t-shirts in their school color and made a banner so that the kids wouldn't miss us. We still use the banner at parades and football games. My DS12 gets to go and march at MK in April 2011 and we will be there then as well. My DD8 has a ways to go but her turn will be in April 2015. Obviously our band goes every 4 years.
