Time Share Deals Jan/11

Starting to plan a short trip for the last week of January, 2011. Both kids will be in high school then, and that is exam week, so we should be able to adjust their schedule to get away for 4-5 days. Focus of this trip will be US/IOA to enjoy the new Harry Potter attraction.

Would like to stay in at least a 1 bdrm condo or timeshare. Last time we stayed at Windsor Hills and loved it, but since IoA is our ultimate destination, thinking that staying in that end of town would make more sense. I know that there are some terrific timeshare/condos in that area...where can I find a deal? I have seen Vistana and Hilton Grand Vacation Club doing 4day/3 night deals for $199 in the past (with a timeshare tour). Anybody know how I can book one of these or do I have to register with them somehow and wait to get a "special offer"?

Another thought is to use Priceline or the like and try to get something like Embassy Suites. Gets great reviews and has the cook to order breakfast included.

Any ideas?

If you don't want to do a timeshare tour, Hyatt Place Universal is nice and right across the street from Universal. They have 2 beds and a big sofabed, big screen tv, free internet, free breakfast, a fridge and a large empty area in the room. I think regular rates are about $70/night.

Thanks! That sounds like a very good deal!

We really liked Windsor Hills but the time we are looking at is mid-season, so the rates are about $99 for a 3bdrm, + $75 cleaning fee, plus $30 damage waiver. It's a great price for what you get, but more than we wanted to spend for a short trip.

I checked on the website and the cheapest rate for our dates is $107. I'll have to keep an eye out for specials in the next few months.
