At my job just over a year now. I earn vacation and sick time on a PTO plan. Each pay period, I earn 7.07 hours (I think) of PTO. It really adds up fast, and in just over a year, I have taken off 9 days, and still have 110 hours available at this time. It all carries over from year to year (CA law says the company has to allow us to carry over all our PTO). I think my PTO cap is like 1.5 times my annual accrual. I am not worried at this time since I am not there yet, but it is nice having my current little cushion. Although, I will be using another 40 of it in Feb.
I just wish they stopped acting like I should only take a day here or there (instead of a week at a time for a real vacation) or that they would stop telling me the time I want to take is not really convenient (that was the Sept trip and November jury duty summons).
