Time Magazine Article: Big Brother's got mouse ears

Here is an "executive" style summary of what is out there today.

I think it is funny that my DW received her Global Entry Card in the mail yesterday. Included was a sleeve with a letter that said, "use this sleeve to Protect your Global Entry Card from RFID theft."

Outlines the 3 main front-end security issues of RFID:

Ya, my Nexus has a sleeve too... but I dunno... I guess I consider that worthy of one. What are people going to steal from my Disney account? Access to spend on my credit card while AT Disney (assuming they get my PIN)? Big whoop. I have more than one. I report it as fradulent, and start using my other one.

I agree that there are plenty of security holes with RFID (and there were plenty with MagStripe). I just don't see why anyone cares outside of security nerds (and those people have a role... just not one I care about).

I am sure the folks that shopped at Target on Black Friday did not care about swiping their magstripes at the POS registers and entering their "secure" PINS either. :rolleyes1

FWIW, we are both security nerds.

Personally, I wear a MagicBand on both wrists. One orange one blue. I never take them off. Even if I am away from property.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, that wasn't meant to be insulting. I have some friends who are "white hats" and are super obsessive about security as well. I'm just the polar opposite. I'm a reactive IT person as opposed to proactive.

I didn't happen to shop at Target on the days where they were compromised, but I wouldn't care if I did. I've had cards stolen. A) don't use a debit card B ) always have a second credit card. If you follow those two things, ya you may have a minor inconvenience, but nothing that matters in the long run. Don't sweat the small stuff and have fun :goodvibes

"...employees playing characters in the park can use hidden sensors to track children and their information; so Goofy can walk up to a child and say something like, “Hi Bobby. Happy birthday.”

OMG...this happened to me! Several times!!

Of course, I also had a big old HAPPY BIRTHDAY button on pinned to my shirt! :lmao:

Not insulted, just putting it into perspective. :thumbsup2 If I was insulted you would have seen some new ABD pictures surface. :lmao:
