How long will Alamo hold your rental beyond you arranged pick-up time from MCO?).
On a side note...does anyone know why a booking I have with Alamo for March would cost $300 yet the exact same vehicle at the exact same time would be $1550.00 with National ?(sister companies?)

Depends.

If you are flying and your plane is delayed you are normally safe. Otherwise I would figure you have no more then an hour or so on the pick up.

I would call Alamo if you know you are going to be significantly delayed.

Not sure if it's changed but National holds a reservation until midnight.

Alamo's website says

A reservation is confirmation of a vehicle which is reserved for a customer at a particular location, on a specified date

which implies reservations are held until midnight. I'd call and double check.

I know the Alamo at the airport by my house if they are really busy or short of cars will only hold your reservation for an hour. I've seen the sign several times when I've been in there picking/dropping off a rental. I'm not sure how it works if your flight is delayed.

If you put your flight information on the reservation and your plane is delayed, Alamo will know. They do track it.
This may have changed, but, I was told by both Alamo and National that they hold the reservation for 24 hours. IE: rental begins at noon, they will hold it until the following noon.

As to your National/Alamo rental prices. Alamo tends to cater to tourists/casual travelers and National to business. BUT, often the situation does reverse itself.
Keep watching the rates. It is funny, but, the closer you get the National rates will fall and the Alamo rates will rise. I have always found this amusing.
They have been sister companies for years and years. It was when Vanguard bought them that they merged into the same locations.
