My cell phone contract is up this week and this Friday is the first day I am willing to go get a new one. I need a HUGE upgrade from what I currently have, which is the super, super basic model. I am currently looking for work and email access 24/7 has become absolutely critical, as staying home waiting for the phone to ring is not at all practical nor beneficial to my mental health. My only other criteria is it needs to be hearing aid compatible if I am signing a contract, which is what I am leaning towards right now. If I wasn't going with a contract, I'd be more willing to let that part go for now and just upgrade again once I'm employed.
I've been looking and have picked out a few models that I think will work for me. One of them is on sale Black Friday. It's currently on sale at Radio Shack for $100. Best Buy will have it for $30 less than that and Radio Shack may or may not have it for free that day (the ad is really hard to read.)
I can't drive at night, so I wouldn't be able to get to the stores until after they've been open for a while. Do the cell phones (with contract) usually go pretty quickly? While I realize I could order online and save myself the headache, I cannot be without a phone for more than an hour or two right now, and so I'm unwilling to take the chance of my phone being cut off before I receive the new one. I have to keep my number as it's on every single resume I send out. Needless to say, I don't have a landline or any other number right now.
So, how quickly do the phones sell on Black Friday? Is it necessarily worth it to wait and see on an ad that may or may not be the one I'm looking at? I'm holding out hope that someone will have a better deal that the best I can currently get by this coming weekend, but I'm not sure how likely that is.
Thanks!
