Time for a new cell phone--better to buy this week or wait till Black Friday?

My cell phone contract is up this week and this Friday is the first day I am willing to go get a new one. I need a HUGE upgrade from what I currently have, which is the super, super basic model. I am currently looking for work and email access 24/7 has become absolutely critical, as staying home waiting for the phone to ring is not at all practical nor beneficial to my mental health. My only other criteria is it needs to be hearing aid compatible if I am signing a contract, which is what I am leaning towards right now. If I wasn't going with a contract, I'd be more willing to let that part go for now and just upgrade again once I'm employed.

I've been looking and have picked out a few models that I think will work for me. One of them is on sale Black Friday. It's currently on sale at Radio Shack for $100. Best Buy will have it for $30 less than that and Radio Shack may or may not have it for free that day (the ad is really hard to read.)

I can't drive at night, so I wouldn't be able to get to the stores until after they've been open for a while. Do the cell phones (with contract) usually go pretty quickly? While I realize I could order online and save myself the headache, I cannot be without a phone for more than an hour or two right now, and so I'm unwilling to take the chance of my phone being cut off before I receive the new one. I have to keep my number as it's on every single resume I send out. Needless to say, I don't have a landline or any other number right now.

So, how quickly do the phones sell on Black Friday? Is it necessarily worth it to wait and see on an ad that may or may not be the one I'm looking at? I'm holding out hope that someone will have a better deal that the best I can currently get by this coming weekend, but I'm not sure how likely that is.

Thanks!

What service do have Att, Versizon, T-moblie, Cricket, Boost Moblie, Virgin Mobile or Spirit. Is looking for pre-paid phones

This will help with phones.

Right now only that is screaming at me Blackberry. But that so old school. sorry if not driod or Iphone 4 it is old.

Choice of operating systems for phones are

Google Andriod froyo, ginderbread, excliar and more
Apple
Windows 7
Java run phone
Smybian

I think just confused you if was looking for something simple

My ATT LG Prime is hearing aid compatible and run by java. I would not recommend the phone unless willing to mess around with and install Operamin4 as main web browser.

Thanks, I did try the LG Prime at AT&T and liked that one ok, but I'm not a big fan of their plans. I currently have an AT&T contract, but I'm probably switching to either Sprint or Tmobile. I like Boost's plans on paper, but no one can actually give me a vote of confirdence about them--and as such, I'm not sure of taking that chance with the unknown.

The specific phone in question is a Samsung Transform from Sprint. I've played with my choices in person and this is the only one with a sale next week, and so the only one that presents a potential pricing problem.

Than if have Att than got options. I would check out ATT website and click on ATT prepaid phones see if any that like on that page first. If do order the prepaid cell phone switch out sim cards. I do it all the time.

Also check what ATT call quick messaging phones to see if there anything like on that page.

Thank go road untravel and not popluar on the dis boards. Go to amazon site click in unlocked phones there is hundred choice that suit needs.

I would sitck with nokia phones. The Nokia Eseries phones is good business phones. E63, E71, E72.

I just thought of something go Wal-mart.com site and click pre-paid cell phones there is Nokia C3 that would fit your needs for 79.99.

If like the phone just switch sim cards and good to go.

Can tell I spend too much time on the cell phone boards.

Now T-mobile has some great options to:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/T-Mobile-Tap-Prepaid-Cell-Phone/14892620

I was going with t-moblie I would check Nokia Nuron to. That either buy pre-paid or contract.

I would check out Wal-mart straighttalk service to of phones is one I like for business that go reviews on:

I would check out http://www.howardforums.com/forum.php? They have some great information about phones.

I hope that helps. I am not iphone or Driod fangirl. I don't believe everyone needs that much phone. Alot people just need quick messaging phones or dumbphones is buying into the hype right now.

I surf full websites with my LG prime with opera mini which great browser.
