I need some help with this! How do you deal with the time difference in the Carribean? My child is nervous about not being able to adjust in time to do any of the "fun stuff" on the island. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

You will get reminders when your room host makes up the room for the night. The time changes are also printed in the Navigators.

DD is afraid she will sleep too long for some activities (ie: parasailing, snorkeling, etc.) I don't know how to help her! Thanks for the help, though.

tbserena, it shouldn't be a problem. It's only an hour difference and she can get a wake up call from Mickey. We didn't have any problems adjusting. The one good thing is that you get that extra hour back for Castaway Cay!

We were on the 2/21 Eastern cruise and had no trouble with the time change. It hardly affected us at all - we only had to remember to change our watches! It was nice that the day you gain an hour is when you arrive at Castaway Cay, so you have an extra hour to sleep and still be ready for the island early! Don't worry about the time change.

And do be sure to change your watches because the ship will leave without you if you are late. You will want to stay on the same time as the ship is (for me it's one less thing to remember:D) because there will not be any confusion then (the time's the time!) Then all you have to remember is when you must be back on board.

That's true for the Eastern cruise but for the Western (according to the January navigators) the time is set back on Tuesday night and forward again on Wednesday night. That would be true up until the first weekend in April when daylight savings time begins. You didn't say whether you're on the Eastern or Western so now you have both scenarios.

We are cruising on Oct. 9, im in Arizona where the time never changes! So will it be 3 hours ahead for us on the Western?:o

OK, but what about cruising when daylight savings times ends?

Our Eastern Magic cruise leaves on Saturday the 30th of October, so daylight savings times ends Sunday the 31st at 2:00 (i think that is the time).

So what do we do with the time then?

If the ship changes its time, they will let you know. There was a card in our stateroom for each change and a reminder on the Navigator. Don't worry.

tbserena, where are you from? With the exception of Wilson, everyones talking about eastcoasters and the caribbean time zone change. Are you coming from the midwest, west coast or somewhere that's going to be a big time change just coming to Florida?

In your case, they will not change the time. You will, effectively, be in the same time zone for your entire cruise.

Oops. I thought about my earlier answer and I now wish to retract it. I predict that your time will not change at the beginning of the cruise. It will be as if Daylight Savings Time will not end for you. The clocks will be set back between St. Thomas and Castaway Cay, and that will be the only time adjustment during your cruise.
