Hi Leslie and Tim!!! :goodvibes LOVED all of the pictures from Spring Break...what a beautiful place!!! Sorry I don't check in more often but I am following along! Looking forward to your trip!!!:thumbsup2

I'm glad you like the camera, its awesome!! If you have any questions let me know, i'm still an ameuter myself, but i've learned a lot and can definitely give you a few tips to make the best out of the camera (for instance shoot in aperture priority mode) I'm gonna miss having a DSLR, i just sold it so I could save up for a more expensive one. I bought a point and shoot for now but it won't take anywhere near the quality of photos!

Have a great time on your girls trip, when do you leave?
Well, I can always use tips. What is the "aperture priority mode"? I am actually taking a snap and shoot for our girls trip, I don't want to lug around a big camera bag AND a purse, I'll wait til' this summer when Tim is with me to do that.

Great pics! Your kids are just adorable! Sounds like you had a great time!!
Thanks!
What a fun spring break trip! It's great that your family has that tradition. The 2nd tie-die picture is just great! It looks like something my little brother and I would have done...
Love family traditions! Glad you enjoyed the pics.

FUN FUN!!! We are actually going into nyc next
weekend but this is not one of the shows we plan
to see. Definitely for the future though!

Have a great time at Mary Poppins! (my favorite movie!!)

Aperture priority mode is the "AF" on the camera (I think its AF on the dial) its where you control the aperture and the camera does the rest. Think of Aperture as how blurry you want the background to be when you take a photo of something. The lower you put the number, the blurrier the background is making for more depth of field!! After you master that, its easy to master the other really good mode to use which is shutter priority. Thats where you determine how fast the camera takes a photo (the faster the photo is taken the darker it will be) and the camera does the rest!! Shutter priority is really good for fireworks shots because what you do is you get a tripod (a gorillapod SLR is AWESOME for disney) and you set the shutter to take as long as 3 seconds and it reaaalllly sloooooowly (like the dramatic effect? lol) takes the photo so you get fireworks shots like this:

heres just a few photos I've taken over the past couple of years using either Aperture priority mode or shutter priority mode.

Have a great time!!

Gorgeous pic and great explanation!

Leslie, you should get a book from the library or look for a discounted version. They really explain the different settings.

Here are two that I used shutter priority to "freeze" the action so the movement wouldn't be blurry (sorry, not Disney!)

These were taken with a 55 - 250 lens about 40 yards away.

I can't wait to hear about the show. It is coming here in January and I can't wait to see it.

You will love it! Saw last Sunday's 6:30 show...and loved it. The last scene was amazing!

That ones not mine, but the link below it is where you can find the original! Just click on "All sizes"

Here are the two of mine which demonstrate longer shutter speeds. The fireworks shot was hard because I didn't have a full length tripod thats whay its a weird angle :rotfl:
