Tim Tebow

Nobody is allowed to spike it when playing against Tebow.

Tebow fans are judging Brady because of the Sour Grapes they're tasting after Denver lost. It's as simple as that.
no sour grapes here, I just thought it was out of character for him which made it even more distasteful to me.

Ok, let's compare the amount of charity work Tom had done at 24 with what Tim has done. Considering Tim spent his signing bonus on famine charities within 24 hours and has been working working with orphans since he was pretty much out of the womb I'm not sure you even want to go there.

This is probably true for most, but Tim's family has run an orphanage since before anyone had ever heard of him outside of Florida. Anyone at his university will tell you that he spent most of his free time in college with local children in hospitals or on mission trips. Football is just a venue for him to serve others and be a role model.

To quote Tim Allen from The Santa Clause......

And you should see him walk on water.... :rolleyes1

Huh. Instead of trying to compare Tim to Tom as far as respect on the football field, I think it would be more likely to compare Tim to EVERYONE ELSE.

When TO played for the 49ers, he stood on the big Cowboys star in the middle of Texas stadium after a touchdown.

Randy Moss pretended to moon fans in Green Bay after a touchdown, I believe it was his last year as a Viking. Oh, and the joke for that was that Green Bay fans ACTUALLY moon the opposing team's bus on the way out after games.

Somebody on the Bills pretended to shoot himself in the leg after a TD when they were playing the Jets (in reference to Plaxico Burress). I don't even remember who that was.

Santonio Holmes got flagged for a celebration in the Eagles/Jets game yesterday, and I don't even know what that was for.

Often times you will see a player copy the dance of a player on the opposite team, usually in a mocking way.

Spiking the ball...? That's pretty close to normal. :confused3. I understand the "way" the Pats do it is supposedly called Gronking , but it's still just a spike.

I think Tom Brady has more class than all of those people combined. Only compared to Tim Tebow does he seem distasteful.

I'm new to the whole Tebow phenom, but reading this thread, I've got an image of him with a halo glowing around his head.
Ok so based upon your personal worldview, according to my worldview they are equals off the field. Like I said it's not quantifiable it's all about personal perception.
Which sounds like a much needed "let's agree to disagree" statement :thumbsup2 followed by...
Ok, let's compare

Wow, I'm impressed. My first granddaughter was born last month, and it's going to be at least a couple of years before she starts doing charity work.
WOW some people are really going off the deep end.

  • The Gronking (spiking) was toward the fans, not Tebow personally.
  • I never understood booing opposing players. It's kind of like mud-slinging in politics. Let's cheer on our team/players instead!
  • If one is a Christian, one understands about not judging others. And I don't see what there is to judge Brady about anyway. :confused3
  • Tom has had good things to say about Tebow. . Tim has good things about Brady. It's a regular love fest.
  • The extremists on both sides are getting to be waaaaaay too much(again, like politics).
::yes:: This is like discussions about abortion, circumcision, gay marriage, breast vs bottle, and politics...minds don't get changed very often, IMHO.

You mean he chose football strictly to serve others and be a role model? Very informational thread. :thumbsup2
Assuming you are a Pats fan, you're nearly fawning all over Tebow. That certainly could be over riding your like of the Patriots. So sour grapes may still apply. Brady did nothing wrong. Ball spikes and camera smiles have occurred ever since I've been watching football. Nothing wrong with having just a little fun in the end zone.
He spiked the ball and SMILED?
AGAIN, it was meant for the FANS who booed him during warm ups. There is no Brady-Tebow war.

Tebow would be better off if some of his "fans" and now "bandwagon fans", would take it down a notch. As much as he looks up to Jesus Christ, he is not Jesus Christ.
As I said...new to the topic of Tebow, but I'm not so sure! ;)

I live in New England and I root for the Pats. Just not into worshiping PEOPLE.

You mean men can treat their opponents with kindness and praise after beating them?

What? I think the Patriots are an excellent example of this- they don't trash talk before the games- they play the game to the BEST of their ability and often that means they win, and if that means a little on field celebration after being booed by fans during the introductions.... so be it.

Tim Tebow seems like a really nice person... but he's no better than lots of people- he just has the high profile job to be seen by millions.

No one ever said all Tim's fans were better people than Tom Brady. Tim himself never would show such complete lack of respect. Did you see him after the Bears game? Did you see the way he treated his opponents? I don't understand how anyone could claim Tom is remotely in his league when it comes to respect and kindness after that.

Curious, do you know either one of them personally?

I never said there wasn't a lot of people he was no better than. I never said he was better than the Pope. I never said he was better than Mother Teresa. I never said he was better than Elie Wiesel. I never said he was better than the Dalai Lama. I said he was a better person than a good QB but pretty average human being by most accounts based on the tremendous good he's done, glowing testimonies from fans, coaches, players, and lack of personal scandal. This doesn't mean I think he's Jesus. This doesn't mean I think Tom Brady is a bad person. I wouldn't even say I'm a better person than Tom Brady. He's a pretty decent guy IMO. This one action appeared disrespectful and was far beneath someone like Tim Tebow, who is known for treating everyone with complete respect. The guy was talking about fishing with his opponents during the Bears game. He's beyond nice.

Excuse me? Tim's life revolves around serving others, and by others, I don't mean supermodels. And let's not forget Tom's baby mamma predicament. I'm not saying he's Michael Vick, be he's clearly no Tim Tebow.

OK, I'm not a Tom Brady fan at all. But I am so sick of hearing this when people complain about him. First of all, he did not know that Bridget Moynihan - that's her name, not 'babymomma'--was pregnant when they broke up. She didn't know either. And by all accounts, he is a hands on dad--spends lots of time with his son. And I'm sure he's never missed a child support payment either.

And the dig about "serving a supermodel"? Really mature. Tom fell in love & married a beautiful woman who makes a living as a model.

Look, Tebow is a fine human being. I think he's done lots of great things in his life already. I hope he succeeds as a quarterback, he certainly works hard enough. And he's the type of person that would be a great role model for kids. But I'm sorry, he's simply not as talented as Tom Brady, who's one of the best quarterbacks ever.

I do think some of the fans are over the top...while Orten was the starter I know it bugged him to hear people chanting Tebow, etc. It's not his fault but I am sure all the adoration doesn't sit well with everyone on the team.

I wasn't using this to say he's a bad person. It underscores the fact that he has different(far less selfless) priorities than Tim Tebow. While Tim he building hospitals in the Philippines and saving himself for the woman he will spend his life with, Tom is out dating all these beautiful women.

Ut oh-- Them's fighting words!!:lovestruc But alas, that Pats are good, and we, well, aren't!
There is SO MUCH you and I are on the same side about, we were bound to find something we weren't! :lmao: Love ya anyway! :teeth:

I don't. There are people on this thread who know them personally. Everyone who knows Tim says glowing things about him and his family. The results are more mixed with Tom.

Your second response above, and many others on this thread, make it sound as if you do. I tihnk it is pretty difficult to decide which person is a better person if you don't know them and make all your comparisons based on what you hear through the media. I also think your last point does more hard to you credibility than it helps.

I don't know Bono or Paris Hilton. I think it's safe to deduce who the better person is there.

Tim's actions say everything. He's done more for others in his 24 years than most NFL players in their entire career(including Tom Brady). No one who knows him has bad thing to say about the man. There are plenty of people of people(who actually know him) willing to say a few unkind things about Tom Brady, even on this thread. Just compare the way they treat opponents while mic'd up. How does Tom beat Tim on any account? I suppose Tom is more savvy with the ladies, but is that the measure of a man? As far as my credibility, I never said I was a better person than anyone. I said Tim Tebow was a better person than Tom Brady and most NFL players.

I wondered before, but this confirms it...TROLL! :happytv:
