Tim Tebow

If Tebow can't beat The Pats that proves he isn't ready to beat legitimate Playoff teams. Not to mention the Patriots have one of the worst Pass Defenses in the NFL, they are ranked 31st in avg yards passing against and 13th is rushing yards against. I expect Tebow to have a good game as a QB against The Pats, they have practice squad guys in their secondary. The Broncos will lose because Brady, Welker and Gronkowski will dominate on the Offensive side of the ball and Tebow won't be able to put enough points on the board.

Ok, just a few points on your post. 1) You have Tebow playing the Pats and 2) You have Broncos vs Brady, Welker and Gronkowski... Tebow is measured against a whole team? If you don't expect Brady to do it alone, why should Tebow? Brady has lost plenty big games against big teams . And yes, while Tebow hasn't proved himself like that YET... Is it really a fair comparison? C'mon, give the kid some credit.

If the Pats win , it says nothing to me about Tebow. The Pats are better than the Broncos.

I agree with you if The Pats win it says nothing about Tebow, that is of course if he has a passer rating above 45, but if he has another Vick-like performance win or lose it says a lot about Tebow as a QB. It's a proven fact that Run First - Throw Second QBs don't win in this league. By Win I mean Super Bowl. Look at Steve Young he wasn't successful until he learned how to balance his abilities. Michael Vick's best year in the league was last year and his Passer Rating was the highest of his career.

My point was that if Tebow can't have a successful game through the air against The Patriots 31st ranked Defense then he clearly isn't ready to be a successful long term NFL QB.

Brady has indeed lost many games against both good and poor teams throughout his career but he has also beaten MANY good to great teams at the same developmental level where Tebow is, reference the 2000/2001 Season.

Brady has indeed done it virtually alone, remember he won a Super Bowl with David Givens, David Patten, a fresh off injury Deion Branch and an aging Troy Brown at Wide Receiver.

Hey! Im a life long Dolphins fan, he's had plenty of help. We gave him W Walker wrapped up with a bow on him! :rotfl:

Personally, I give Tebow a lot of credit, but it doesn't change the fact that right now he stinks. I know the Broncos are winning games and people are energized, but they are winning games in spite of Tebow's ability instead of because of it.

I think some of the people on this thread do Elway a disservice by claiming he is jealous of Tebow. In my opinion, the reason he doesn't look thrilled is because he's smart enough to know Tebow needs A LOT of work before he will be a good NFL quaterback. Right now, Tebow is looking to run first, pass second. The only thing this will get you in the NFL is injured. Tebow doesn't even have sense to slide. You simply can't keep taking unnecassary hits from guys like Urlacher every week and stay healthy. Also, don't dismiss how much being a rookie helps Tebow. Defensive coordinators don't have a lot of scouting for him. Right now, Tebow is unpredictable. The more he plays though, the more defenses will figure out his tendencies be able to counter.

In the end, the fact is Tebow will never win consistently going 3 for 16 through 3 quarters. Denver is playing good and getting a lot of help from the opposing team. The way they win games now isn't a sustainable model for the future. Can Tebow become an excellent NFL quarterback? Probably, if he gets the right coaching and works hard. He definitely has the raw athletic ability, but he has a lot of bad college habits to break.

LOL very true, thank you very much for that BTW :goodvibes .... Not that you guys had a QB that could get Welker the ball anyway :lmao: I feel bad for you guys, how many QBs have you had since Marino retired? It's as if that position has a curse for you guys, Chad Pennington couldn't even stay on the field. Even though he was a 2nd Rd Pick, I really thought that Chad Henne was the answer for you guys when the Phins drafted him.(Henne, who I believe beat Tebow in a Bowl Game.) But alas the Miami QB curse bit Henne as well :sad2:

I agree. Im not sold on him either. But that said, I love watching him play and I appreciate the leadership that he has given his team. They believe in him and has gotten his team and city in a better mindset. He seems like a good kid with a great attitude. How he will do in the future is still a question, but right now he is getting that job done and Im rooting for him probably because of all the "anti-Tebow" sentiment out there.

heck, he has more attention that a 13-0 Green Bay Packer team.

We've had about as many QB's as head coaches LOL. Its tough being a Dolphins fan....:guilty:

I agree about Tebow's personal qualities. I actually like the fact that he is so passionate and can be over the top. Too many times we see players being subdued and almost disinterested. It's nice to see someone who really loves what they're doing.

He is, right now, one of the most exciting players to watch because anything can happen. What's funny, is that QBs like Brady or Rodgers can get boring to watch because they are so precise and make it look so easy that it gets tedious. Sometimes, it's a lot more fun to watch a guy make it up as he goes, even if it gives the coaching staff a heart attack.

I hope Tebow and the Broncos pull off another surprise this week. The truth is though that the Patriots can and should win in what will likely be a high scoring game. The Patriots seem to do really well in the regular season. It is in the playoffs where they have come undone in recent years.
A recent Sports Illustrated article compared them to the Moneyball Oakland A's -phenoms in the regular season and flat-out losers in the playoffs. Until their D gets stout I am inclined to agree.

I too hope they pull it out - would be a miracle.

Tom is righty. Tim is lefty.

Tom is 34. Tim is 24.

Tom is second in passing yards among NFL starters this season. Tim is dead last.

Tom is third in completion percentage. Tim is dead last.

Tom has won five games in a row. Tim has won six.

Tom swears like a teamster who has stubbed his little toe. Tim says "Gosh!" and "Golly!" and calls reporters "Sir." (I hired a lip reader to monitor Tim in Week 13. The worst he said was an impassioned, "Let's go!")

Tom has a QB rating of 106.0. Tim's is 83.9.

But in the fourth quarter, Tom's is 91.0 and Tim's is 99.6.

Tom is a national sex symbol who's had two kids out of wedlock, one by a stunning actress and the other by a Brazilian supermodel, who is now his wife. Tim is a national sexless symbol, a proud virgin.

Tom has won 77 percent of his games as a starter. Tim has won 73 percent.

Tom throws spirals that could slide into a mailbox from across a cul de sac. They nestle into receivers' arms like babies returned to new mothers. Tim throws chevrons of mallards. He has more overthrows than the Arab Spring.

Tom has the seventh-best-selling Fathead poster in the NFL this week. Tim has the best-selling one. And the second-best-selling one. And the 10th-best-selling one.

Tom is the ultimate pocket quarterback. He's as comfortable in it as Sarah Palin in mink. Tim treats the pocket as an electric chair. He bolts it like it's on fire.

While Tom Brady relishes the pocket, Tim Tebow can't wait to rush out of it.

Tom runs like he's wearing ski boots. Tim runs like he's wearing ACME jet packs. In his entire career, Tom has rushed for 697 yards. Tim could very well run for that many this season.

Tom has lost games this season scoring 31, 20 and 17 points. Tim has won games scoring 18, 17, 17, 16 and 13.

Tom is aided by the NFL's leading receiver, Wes Welker, and a touchdown-gobbling tight end, Rob Gronkowski. Tim is helped by God, according to his pastor, Wayne Henson. "God favors Tim for all his hard work," the pastor says.

Tom is in his 12th season. Tim is in his second. Tom finished his second season with a passer rating of 86.5. Tim's passer rating is about the same, 83.9.

Tom was born in San Mateo, Calif., to an insurance consultant and has three siblings, all girls. Tim was born in Makati City, Philippines, to a Baptist missionary, and is the youngest of five.

Tom went to the prestigious Catholic high school Junipero Serra, where Barry Bonds and Lynn Swann went. Tim was homeschooled.

Tom was mostly unknown in college. He sat on the bench his first two years. Tim was one of the most famous college athletes in history, a cinch for the College Football Hall of Fame, winner of two national championships, claimer of one Heisman and finalist for two more.

Tom was a sixth-round draft pick. Tim was a first-rounder.

Tom did not start a game as a rookie. Tim did.

Tom has won three Super Bowls, two Super Bowl MVPs and two league MVPs. He owns the NFL regular-season records for TD passes, best TDs-to-interception ratio, consecutive home wins and consecutive playoff wins. Tim is a favorite of Skip Bayless.

Tom is Goliath. Tim is David. A 6-foot-3, 235-pound David who can bench 350 and flatten cornerbacks into peanut brittle.

Tom has 24 fourth-quarter comeback victories in his 11 years as a starter. Tim has six in, basically, one.

Tom has no jokes going around about him. Tim has this one: Tebow asks for an audience with the Pope, who grants it. Tebow flies to Rome and the Pope gives him a tour of the Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, everything. But it's Sunday morning and now the Pope needs to deliver Mass to the 50,000 people waiting in St. Peter's Square below his window. "Come with me to the window and see for yourself," the Pope says. The two of them go to the window. Down below, an Italian guy says to his buddy, "Hey, who's the guy in the pointy hat next to Tebow?"

Tom has made 17 Sports Illustrated covers. Tim has eight, one more than Drew Brees.

Tom has 19 books for sale about him on Amazon.com. Tim has six.

Tom is the namesake of the NFL's Brady Rule, which prohibits hitting QBs below the knees. Tim is the namesake behind the NCAA's Tebow Rule, regarding athletes wearing messages on their eye black.

Tom is on a greeting card. Tim is on a Christmas card.

Tom has been named his team's QB of the future. Tim has not.

Tom is 1-5 versus Tim's team. Tim has never played Tom's team.

Bradying is not an acknowledged English word, according to the Global Language Monitor. Tebowing is.

Both men would chew through a cement embankment to win a football game.

They play Sunday.

Who do you like?

Tom Brady, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Patriots flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity Tom, said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here." Tom felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house.

On his way up the porch, he noticed another house ...just around the ...corner. It was a huge 3-story mansion with Orange and Blue sidewalks and drive ways, a 50 foot tall flagpole with an enormous Broncos logo flag waving, a swimming pool in shape of a horse, a Broncos logo in every window, and a Tim Tebow jersey on the front door.
Tom looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I won 3 Super Bowls, and I even went to the Hall of Fame."

God said "So what's your point Tom?"

"Well, why does Tim Tebow get a better house than me?"

God chuckled, and said "Tom, that's not Tim's house, it's mine."

Just so you know there are many versions of this same joke to accomodate almost every NFL team.

And my friend summed it up best on his FB page:

""Better clear your Sunday calendar everyone because God is playing Jesus , wondering who will win?""

Me: I say Go Broncos!

Okay that is the one that made me seriously guffaw. Ohhhhh Bayless and Stephen A. Smith have been so darn entertaining. They should kiss Tebow's feet. ;)

Got my tickets and are ready to go!! :cool1:

Lucky! Have fun.

We are having fun in my household this week. DH is a HUGE Patriots fan. I am a UF alum and Tebow supporter. The funny thing is that DH has been a big Tebow supporter ever since he was named the starter of the Broncos (good man). Now of course, all bets are off. ;)

BTW, Tebowing has now been recognized as a real word in the English Language

‘Tebowing’ is now an official word in one dictionary

By Matt Wiley / The Gazette

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — If you looked up "Tebowing" in the dictionary, it would say, "the act of taking a knee in prayer during an athletic contest."

No, really.

"Tebowing" is now recognized by the Global Language Monitor, which tracks trends in language.

A news release from the Global Language Monitor’s website says that the acceptance and use of the word "has seldom been equaled."<snip>

Oh, barf. Like no other football player has ever done that during a game.

I am not a Bronco fan, nor particularly, a Tebow fan,but I have never felt that he was pushing his beliefs on anyone. It is a tenet of evangelical Christianity to share and promote the news that belief in Jesus Christ offers salvation. He isn't out there telling anyone to convert or that their beliefs are wrong. I think it's kind of nice that he can unabashedly voice his beliefs in spite of the criticism leveled at him. He actually lives his faith...nothing wrong with that. I wish I was that open about my beliefs, but I definitely agree with the poster (FireDancer, I think) who commented on the fact that it seems more acceptable to aim criticism at Christianity than any other faith.
His work ethic is admirable, and I'd certainly prefer young players look up to him rather than the guys who are arrested for drugs, alcohol, domestic abuse, etc. I saw the Super Bowl ad and didn't find anything objectionable in the content. I don't have to agree with someone's point of view, but I do have to let them voice it; and I respect their right to do so as I trust them to respect my right to disagree. (I wish I always felt this way but I wish Westboro Baptist Church would just go away. I'm tired of trying to respect their rights.)
I think if I knew him I would like him. I'm certainly not going to hide behind the anonymity of my keyboard and say I hate someone I don't even know.

I just want to know why those who "tebow" curl their wrist like The Thinker when Tebow doesn't.

Oh, barf. Like no other football player has ever done that during a game.

I know..I've been watching football players cross themselves, point to the sky or kneel down the way Tebow does for years. Why all the fuss over it now?

Oh, barf. Like no other football player has ever done that during a game.

And let's not mention all the musical artists who thank God when they win an award. It confusing why Tebow is pointed out....
