Tim Tebow

Hate him or love him, Denver just won again... 6-1 record now with Tebow as the starter
And going from the bottom of the AFC west to tied for first place WITH the winning tie breaker if it ends up in a tie!

It isn't pretty, but all that matters is the score at the end of the game.

I wonder what his detractors will say to minimize this one.

Miami, Oakland, Kansas City, New York Jets, San Diego and Minnesota. :rotfl2:

The only true test he has faced was Detroit and he got mutilated. Let's hold off on nominating him as the next Football messiah until if and when he can beat Chicago and/or New England.

I am not afraid to admit that I am rooting for him to fail and fail hard. :goodvibes

Well its clear where this is going. Anyway, your list is already flawed, he beat the Jets.

I never said he's the next football messiah, just that he's good enough to be a NFL quarterback, he's proven that.

The Jets are 7-5 and hanging on to Playoff hopes by a thread, as it stands today they are the projected 9th seed which means no playoffs. So no the list is not flawed.

All he has proven is that he can beat mediocre at best teams, technically the jury is still out. He may indeed prove himself to be a quality NFL QB. When and if he does I will respect him as an athlete but still hate him as a person, how some people feel about Vick is how I feel about Tebow.

Strange. Why are you such a bitter man.

You feel about a kid who builds hospitals in impovershed countries the way others feel about someone who electrocuted dogs for fun? Interesting...

And that is why, even though we are not a religious family, I am ecstatic to have Tebow as a sports role model for my high school football player.

When did our youth begin to think it ok to idolize a violent criminal just because he can throw a ball with some accuracy over somebody who balances sports with humanity?

But, my guess is Metalis is just doing a little :stir:

Off to get Tebow jerseys for Christmas gifts. That is if I can find any.

Defense and special teams beat the jets.

He had seven 3 and outs out of 10 possessions

He got the ball on the Jets side of the field 5 times and only got 3 points from it.

It was a battle of lousy offensives and our defense scored 7.

He looked good today but it was against a 2 win team who is almost the worst in the NFL at pass defense and missing their best player.

And again the defense scored 7 points and had an interception that gave us the winning field goal.

It's nice to be winning but I'm not gonna to get excited at beating the worst teams in the league.

I know from when religious discussions were allowed that the PP is not a fan of Christianity. That's the guess I have for these feelings. I'm sorry the PP seems to have had such a bad experience or something.

I was using Vick as an example not as a baseline for value or moral judgment. People didn't like Vick before the whole dog fight scandal for very similar reasons that I currently don't like Tebow. I don't like his persona or how he carries himself. I never said anything to take away from his community service and/or humanitarian efforts, but just because he does some charity work doesn't give him a free pass on how he conducts himself. For that very reason is why I cheer for him to fail.

Strange. Why are you such a bitter man.

I am not bitter in the least, I just don't like Tebow. I'm actually a very happy and content person, I have a great job, a wonderful DW, amazing friends and I've gone to Disney at least once every year for the past 9 years. Not to mention I root for a team that has a proven NFL QB who has won 3 Super Bowls. One does not need to be bitter in order to dislike someone.

EXACTLY!!! :goodvibes

So, what kind of person do you like?

I like people who hold their beliefs dear but who also respects the beliefs of others. IMHO how he conducts himself is not that of a humble person. I would feel the same exact way if he threw up the Sign of the Hammer and praised Oden, praised Allah, Hailed Satan or thanked scientists for developing safer equipment. The fact of the matter is that I find him obnoxious. I don't expect others to feel the same way that I do, but that won't stop me from expressing my opinion.

I am not stirring the pot, I am being genuine, I don't like Tebow. I personally never idolized pro athletes growing up, even when I was playing baseball, basketball and football I never looked at a single athlete and said I want to be like him. But if I had to guess some kids look to pro athletes as role models because of brilliant marketing done by the major shoe brands as well as ESPN.

There are plenty of Tebow jerseys gathering dust here in Boston I saw them everywhere when I was out xmas shopping this weekend :thumbsup2

I don't have a problem with any Religion, I have a problem with how Tebow expresses his.

He plays like a rookie, which is pretty much what he is. However, when the game is over, he's not talking about how "he" made plays. He's talking about how the receivers worked hard to get open, how the O-Line did such an awesome job giving him time, how the defense made great plays to keep them in it...and finally how the coaching staff called the best plays.

That's what I really enjoy about him as an athlete-and that type of genuine humility is not exclusive to Christianity. That's a characteristic that I would want any athlete to have, whether they practice any type of religion or not. Same with his "play 100% until the whistle blows" attitude, instead of phoning it in once you get down-like some of the Giants did last weekend.

Even his detractors in the sports talk world say over and over what a great kid he is. They might not like his play, but they all like him because he's just pleasant to be around.

IMHO-hating someone for what religion they practice-or for what they don't-is like hating someone because they don't like the same music you do. What attracts me to people is their personality and their actions-not their faith. It's usually pretty far into a friendship when I find out what, if any, religions my friends follow.

I can hate someone's cruel actions (Michael Vick), but even then-it's the actions I despise, not the person. Michael Vick is human like all of us, and he has the opportunity to change his actions and do better going forward.

Rooting for him to fall hard and hating him as a person are strong words that make you sound bitter. Nobody can know the "real you" by reading a forum, but that's how you sound. There are plenty of celebrities I don't care for, but I really don't care enough to hate them. Its only bitterness that could make me feel strongly enough about someone to root for him to fail. Even the people in my personal life who have hurt me the most don't generate that kind of feeling.

I don't know, but for such a self proclaimed content person, you sure wish spend mental energy wishing awful stuff to a football playing kid because you don't like how he talks about his religion. :confused3

He seems like a decent enough guy. His abilities, or lack of, might not make him a long lasting successful NFL quarterback, but he is winning now.

I am sensationalizing my feelings towards him, I honestly could care less. I mainly root for him to fail because I am sick of seeing the media cover him as well as all the "Tebowmaniacs", it is nauseating. Not to mention that he plays for the Denver Broncos, truth be told if he played for The Pats I probably would ignore the issues that I have with him.
Kind of like how I ignore the issues I have with Dave Mustaine because he is in one of my favorite bands of all time. I genuinely dislike Mustaine but love his music so I live with it.

I'm wasting very little mental energy, time yes, but mental energy no. The only time I think about it is when I am wasting time on here or when I turn on Sports Media and hear the pontificating.

That's my point exactly he is winning now because of the level of competition, the jury is still out. Let's see how he does against the Bears and Pats over the next two weeks. Not that the Bears are great considering they lost to the Chiefs yesterday, but I would say they are better than most of the teams Tebow has faced thus far.

Like I said I could be wrong, he could prove himself to be a solid long term NFL QB. I'm not some great talent evaluator, after all I wanted the Pats to draft Rick Mirer over Drew Bledsoe, now that would have been a huge plate of fail.

Not a humble person??!?!! Have you even listened to one of his press conferences or interviews?

His tweet from yesterday right after the game:
TimTebow Tim Tebow
Another all-around awesome team win! I thank the Lord to be lining up every Sunday with such great men GB²

His retweets after the game:

Thank the man above for another win.. And also thank him for giving me opportunities today to make plays

ths is nothing new. But it's the truth T.E.A.M T ogether E verybody A chieves M ore. #BIDB Believe In Dem Broncos

Quote from his post-game press conference yesterday:
"I know that I had a lot of help. Offensive line did a great job, and receivers stepped up and made me look a lot better than I really am," said Tebow, who completed 10 of 15 passes, his best percentage as an NFL starter, and posted a career-high passer rating of 149.3.

Honestly, I can't remember him ever talking himself up. Humble he is indeed.

That's fine. As I said before, if you're going to give me a choice between a football player who is hated for being a drug pusher, hated for beating his wife, hated for dog fighting, hated for illegal weapons charges, or hated for being conspicuously religious - I'll take the goofily over-zealous Christian guy any day of the week as long as he keeps winning games. I don't have to go to church with the guy in order to appreciate what he's doing.

Go Tebow. ;)

Cracks me up to see Elway running down to stand on the sidelines for the final minutes every game now.

love Tebow....a great role model compared to some of the NFL players....and Elway is jealous and I think will get rid of him....his is money though....he had the best selling jersey before he ever set foot on the field....and people travel to see him!! I know we do!
