I mentioned my formerly upcoming but now completed trip to British Columbia. However, I suppose the thing I learned to appreciate was Tim Hortons. They were ubiquitous, including a block or two away from a couple of hotels, in shopping malls, or near various places we visited. I didn't necessarily like the in-room coffee at some hotels, and Tim Hortons coffee was pretty easy to drink black without being bland. That and Timbits plus the breakfast sandwiches. We also had the Canadian back bacon sandwich. Seemed almost like an Egg McMuffin.
Certainly around here there are no ubiquitous chain donut shops. There's Krispy Kreme, but locations are scattered. There used to be a regional chain called Winchell's, but that's gone. I kind of wish there was a chain around here that would be reliable.
Oh - and I found out this:

I'm not sure what they carry. I suspect it's not the same as would be expected north of the border. All three locations (Oakland, Fremont, San Jose) are at ice rinks operated by the San Jose Sharks. I believe the Sharks practice at the location in San Jose. I suppose it makes sense.
