Tim Horton's Question

So I just went to Timmy's for the first time in a long time. And it seemed to me that the selection of donuts was not what it used to be. Is it just my imagination or have they actually cut back?

I read about this a few years ago (if it's been that long for you). It used to be that they made and baked all of their donuts in the store, but now they're all made in a factory and shipped frozen to the stores where they're baked. So the stores only have what's been shipped to them. Once they're out they can't make any more of a given type until they get their next shipment.

Yes, I remember hearing about that. That would explain it. And, yes it has actually been that long since I've been to Timmy's. ;)

I know what you are thinking: Is she really, truly Canadian? Because what TRUE Canadian doesn't go to Tim Horton's at least once a day?

I know it's nearly impossible to find a Walnut Crunch there anymore!

This is true....a client of mine owns a Timmies and each store has different doughnuts. They all have the usual common ones but aside from that they each are able to decide what sells for them.

I agree that the selection is not what it used to be. Remember when the wall behind the counter was floor to ceiling baked goods? Now it's that little glass enclosure in between two cashes.

The one near me (actually there are two within about 100m) still have the full wall displays. There are smaller ones in a few of the hospitals that do have only a minimal selection (but all of them are within less 500m of a big Tim Hortons).

You mean there are donuts other than an apple fritter. :)

some stores still make the donuts but do receive frozen dough, same as the buns frozen... I used to work beside one and saw them making them at 3 am... and yep selection is down, and finally they do an inventory fo what sells during the last 3-5 days, and thats how they base the next weeks production on.

and they still thrrow out the leftovers around 2am, and don't sell day olds, or donate to the food banks, it all goes in the garbage, or as my store does, a lady takes them home, and re-sells them at her husbands store.

Do they bake doughnuts? I thought they were deep fried which is why they are so bad for you but taste so good! :lmao:

Proper Tims lingo is the donuts are not frozen they are "hibernated!":lmao:

As far as variety, my store follows Tims guidelines as to what we must sell. The rest are left to what sells. We are a full store and carry 21 varieties!:)

The bakers are baking at 4 am daily, to ensure you get fresh products!!!!!!:)

Enjoy your next trip to Tims!!!!!:goodvibes

4am oh goodie, so when i go there at break time at 11pm, my donut is 19 hrs old?

oh and to really gross you out, i watched the store manager at 3 am, take the yogurts out, change the date sticker on them , and put them back into the cabinet's..yummy...

from timmies website...

In order to maintain consistency across our chain, there are a number of "Required Products" that every store must offer, including customer favourites like the Dutchie, Boston Cream and Apple Fritter. However, a list of "Optional Products" allows our stores to customize what they offer based on their specific customers' feedback and preferences. That is why you may see certain types of baked goods at one store and not at another.

Tim Hortons donuts and baked goods are prepared at our bakery in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Prior to serving, they are baked and finished (with fillings and/or glazes/icings) at your neighbourhood Tim Hortons store. Staff can bake in small batches throughout the day, so that customers should find their favourite products on the shelf more often. We believe this baking system offers our customers the best product, each and every time.

:confused3 No, sorry you misunderstood. The first bake happens at 4 am. Every item has an expiry time. :) Small bakes happen on every shift to ensure freshness!:thumbsup2

Enjoy Tims!:goodvibes

Donuts have an 8 hour expiry time.
Cookies 24 hour
Danishes 12 hour
Rolls 8 hours

Can't you tell I work there... Ughh.. lol :headache:

Hey, there are lots of true Canadian's who don't frequent Tim Hortons. I don't drink coffee so just think about how much money I save for Walt Disney World :yay:

:lmao:

Its true, I manage a Tims store and I do not drink tea or coffee!!! I never got into it!

I actually prefer the new McDonalds coffee to Tim's coffee now

But I LOVE their sandwiches, chili, and Maple Pecan Danish
