I love Maleficent but Tim Burton only makes crap...this cannot be good.

His films are too stylized and are painful to watch...the only film I liked was the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I actually really truthfully think Helena Bonham Carter would be perfect for that.
The reason she is in a lot of his movies [other than them being involved] is because she fits the creepy characters she is my favorite actress

but i don't see helena as maleficent. i'm sure she'd still be in it. maybe she could play aurora's mom or something. but not maleficent.

We love Tim Burton and Maleficent is my favorite villain by far. This excites me so much!

I don't get the negative comments. Every director has their own style and I can see that some wouldn't like Tim Burton's. That doesn't mean that he'll ruin anything but he'll just have his own take on the story.

I LOVE Maleficent so much my df used her as inspiration for the design of my engagement ring.

This has me on the fence. I love much of Tim's work. I love to have more of this character, but 'Sleeping Beauty' is so perfect and Tim's style doesn't really work with it. I don't know if he could make it better. I don't really like how he reworked the Alice imagery.

Who in the world could do the voice though?!

this kind of makes me want to gag. i really hate how popular tim burton has gotten. his new movies are nothing next to his older ones. its like he knows he's going to make millions off anything, so he just throws out random stuff, and doesn't try to make anything new anymore. like this alice in wonderland disaster? it makes me sick. the old tim burton could...you know.. actually create his own characters. now he just goths up ready made story lines and puts johnny depp and helena bonham carter in there.

Naturally entitled to you own opinion, but the "old" Tim Burton only created a precious few characters...and BTW, it's the writer who creates the character. The director gives them life. Here's a list of his directorial credits (from old to new):
