Hi,

My theme is AIW meet's Tim Burton and I was planning on having a small reception at the Attic but now that I really think of it, dark colors might not really go with the venue. :confused3 Do any of you know of a location that may suit my inspiration below? I was also thinking about keeping the black and white and just adding maybe a light blue or tiffany blue so it can blend well with the Attic?

Thanks!!!:thumbsup2

Those are lovely colours. How many people will it be for?

25...I just don't want to get there and the Attic be so bright and cheery and my decor so gloomy and dark, lol. I was even thinking of black, white and a light pink. Now I'm all confused...

I'm at work waiting for a podcast to start and thought I'd share some of my random thoughts in hopes that it would help your creative process.

You have a nice bright green in your colors. Maybe go with black, white and green instead of pink? At least for decorating the attic anyway. There is a lot of floral in the attic, and there is the scene in AIW where Alice is in the flower garden. How would Tim Burton put a spin on a flower garden? :)

Not sure if that will help now that I look back over it, but I hope it does!

Not sure what your budget is like but have you considered the private rooms at Jiko or the Cali Grill which I think have darker colour schemes.

If you are set on those colours, I think you should look into other venues. Ask you wedding coordinator...she told me about tons of venues that I didn't even know were possible (a lot of resturants that are only open for dinner will let you have a private reception there if it ends before dinner time)

The Attic is very floral. The colors are pastel shades in green, blue, pink, yellow, etc. I did a shabby chic type of theme because of the look of the venue. It is very much like a cottage. I don't know if the darker colors would go very well there.

I love the Tim Burton theme though! :goodvibes I would also think the Napa room at the California Grill would be good. There are darker colors in there. Plus you get a view of fireworks.

I agree, the Attic is very floraly, but mostly in the upholstery. However, maybe you can ask for a simple change. On the patio, they use black wicker chairs with the tables, while inside there are the floral chairs. Maybe you can ask if they can switch, so the black chairs are inside? I think that would help immensely. Then use a basic white table cloth cover and your darker flowers may just work! :goodvibes Doesn't hurt to ask! And I like the Attic for the Alice in Wonderland theme, because it is so eclectic. And I think your teapot centerpieces would fit in very well!

Edit: And for a picture of the wicker chairs, Toni has a couple in her trip report. Here is a link: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=31317603&postcount=1439

Hope that helps! :goodvibes

Another edit: Actually, just checked Magicalkingdoms.com, and they do have some pictures of the black chairs inside (first row, last picture). So they probably do allow it!

Thanks everyone...do you think the black and white with a light pink would work? Does anyone have pics of Jiko and California Grills for a reception?
